For Twitch streamers, their fan-based communities form the core of their online presence and play a vital role. They offer a sense of belonging to viewers and fans, which helps content creators expand their audience, boost engagement, and cultivate a devoted fanbase. By fostering a shared sense of identity between themselves and their fans, content creators can establish a deeper connection with their audience.

While essential for a streamer's sustained success on Twitch, certain communities have developed a negative reputation for engaging in harmful conduct. These rogue fan groups, consisting of a minority, are known for their alleged aggressive and toxic behavior towards other streamers, viewers, and members of the community, and they detract from the community's overall image.

Exploring five streamer communities that have gained notoriety for their conduct

Ethan Ralph

Ethan Ralph, a former Twitch streamer and self-proclaimed 'alt-right' member, gained notoriety for his involvement in the Gamergate harassment campaign. He led his viewers in doxing and allegedly harassing game developer Brianna Wu, which earned him a reputation as a divisive podcaster.

Ralph's on-screen behavior was characterized by aggression and controversy, which encouraged his viewers to engage in alleged toxic conduct like doxing, harassment, and other forms of online abuse. As a result, Twitch banned Ralph, and his career as a content creator came to an end.

Paul 'Ice Poseidon' and the CX community

'Ice Poseidon's community is known as the CX community. Ice Poseidon is a controversial Twitch streamer who recently returned to the platform after a prolonged ban. His IRL streams often feature chaotic content that pushes social boundaries, and as a result, he has been subjected to an estimated 40 swatting incidents by his viewers as a prank.

The CX community gained notoriety following the 2017 swatting incident, where a viewer falsely reported a bomb threat under Paul's name, leading to his Twitch ban until August 2022. They have since become one of the most infamous communities on the platform.

The community of JiDion

Over the past few years, Jidon "JiDion" has risen to become one of the most popular YouTubers and live streamers. However, before his YouTube success, Jid was permanently banned from Twitch for encouraging his viewers to spam the infamous phrase 'L+Ratio' on fellow streamer Pokimane's streams.

Despite the act being carried out at the behest of Jidon, it permanently tainted his community's reputation as one of the most toxic in the streaming community. After creating one of the most significant controversies of 2023, JiDion eventually publicly apologized and took full responsibility for his actions through a YouTube video. However, to this day, Jidon's perma-ban from Twitch remains in effect.

Juicers

Fans of Twitch's most popular streamer, Felix "xQc," are commonly referred to as Juicers. This term originated from Felix's habit of using the phrase 'juice' to express excitement and hype, which was then adopted by his fans to describe themselves. Similar to other passionate communities, Juicers are known for their unwavering loyalty and dedication, often spamming emotes and messages in the chat.

However, like the other communities mentioned before, Juicers have also faced criticism for their behavior in the chat. At times, they have been allegedly accused of bullying, doxing, harassing others, and using racial, homophobic, or sexist slurs while Felix streams.

Forsen's Bajs'

One of Twitch's most popular communities is centered around Swedish streamer Hans "Forsen," known as the 'Bajs' or 'Forsen's Bajs.' The term 'bajs' is slang for poop in Swedish and originated as an inside joke within the community. The 'Bajs' are highly regarded for their unwavering dedication and loyalty to the streamer, as evidenced in the video below. Nevertheless, the community has also been embroiled in several controversies.

Some members of the 'Bajs' community have been associated with engaging in toxic behavior in chat, while Forsen himself has faced criticism for using alleged racist and sexist slurs while streaming. Additionally, the 'Bajs' are infamous for actively stream sniping and spamming, which has resulted in several memes becoming pop-culture icons. Forsen was recently banned on April 20 and the ban remains in place to date.
