Who is Ben Winston? Harry Styles' friendship with Grammys producer under scrutiny after Album of the Year win

Harry Styles won Album of the Year award at Grammys 2023 after beating favorites like Beyonce, Adele and Lizzo

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Harry Styles won the Album of the Year award for 'Harry House' in the 65th edition of Grammy Awards. He won the same after a neck-to-neck competition with iconic singers including Adele, Beyonce, and Lizzo. Though he had won the award, many on social media weren't happy about the same.

Styles has a great relationship with Grammy producer Ben Winston, according to Daily Mail. Soon after, the singer performed 'As It Was,' Grammy's Twitter handle tweeted, "'Fun fact: The voice at the beginning of "As It Was" is the daughter of our very own #GRAMMYs producer, @BenWinston!." The tweet was referring to the five-year-old child of Winston,  Ruby who had a cameo appearance at the beginning of the song, and she can be heard saying, "Come on, Harry, we want to say goodnight to you!."

Who is Ben Winston?

Winston, was previously the executive producer of 'The Late Late Show with James Corden', producing the Grammys telecast for CBS since 2017. The 'Watermelon sugar' lived in Winston's attic for more than a year and a half when his house was getting renovated. Meanwhile, the producer also described how it was to stay with Styles in the attic. "It wasn't going through. Then Styles said, "I'm going to stay until Christmas if you don't mind." Then Christmas came, and…Those 20 months were when they went from being on a reality show, X Factor, to being the biggest-selling artists in the world." He then claimed, "That period of time, he was living with us in the most mundane suburban situation. No one ever found out, really. Even when we went out for a meal, it's such a sweet family neighborhood, no one dreamed it was actually him. But he made our house a home. And when he moved out, we were gutted." 

Winston had also been the producer of 'The Kardashians' for Hulu, and 'Carpool Karaoke' for Apple TV. Meanwhile, he was the executive producer and director of the recent 'Friends: The Reunion' special. Further, he had won four BRIT Awards, two Tony Awards, and won the 2020 BAFTA for TV Moment of the Year, as per Fulwell73. He is the son of Professor Robert Winston, and brother of Tanya Winston and Joel Winston, as per One Direction Fandom.

'So that's how he got the grammy' 

The Internet quickly reacted to this new update. A user said, "He shouldn’t have been nomed for this reason alone." "So thats how he got the grammy," said one while another posted, "Guess we already know whose winning AOTY." A user called the awards show "rigged" while one tweet said, "That nepotism is bananas." Another comment read, "Thanks for confirming the conflict of interest." Yet another said, "What a scam y'all are hahaha worst grammys ever." And one said, "Did yall even think when u posted this lmao." 

Another added, "Harry styles being buddies with ben winston who runs the grammys and irving azoff who runs ticketmasters/livenation and more shows why he won." Another claimed, "don’t search ben winston and harry styles on google if you don’t wanna know why harry won album of the year." A user noted, "It tells me Grammy producer Ben Winston aka Harry Styles bestie got him that award BYE. Maybe if he stays at Ben Winston's house again he'll get SOTY ROTY and AOTY next era. Rigged headahh". A user explained, "harry styles will never amount to anything other than his relationship with ben winston and he will never know peace after this aoty win god bless."
