Prime Video had a major update for 'Cross' Season 2. The streamer revealed a new look for Matthew Lillard's character. Previous reports said the 'FNAF' star plays Lance, a billionaire who becomes involved in a deadly new case investigated by Alex Cross (Aldis Hodge). In the series of pictures, Lillard is seen kneeling on the field, and in another, he is seen sitting across from Cross and Kayla Craig (Alona Tal) while Nat (Lou Jurgens) looks down at him.

The pictures also provide glimpses of Cross and John Sampson (Isaiah Mustafa) sitting at a diner counter, with Cross and Kayla out in the dark with their guns out. Lillard joins the cast as a homicide detective and forensic psychologist who pursues a mysterious vigilante killing corrupt billionaires. 'Cross' is based on James Patterson's best-selling Alex Cross crime novels. Prime Video renewed the show for a second season in April 2024, with Ben Watkins serving as the creator and showrunner of the adaptation.

Speaking to EW earlier, Watkins shed light on season 2. "I knew I wanted to shift gears a little bit, and I knew I wanted to expand the scope of the show so that it wouldn't just be D.C.," the showrunner said. "D.C. is the home and the hub, but I wanted to get some different flavors, textures, smells into the show."

It's worth noting that seasons 1 and 2 were filmed back-to-back. "In this case, we got dealt a hand where we weren't able to take the reactions to season 1, but instead, we were able to go in innocent and wide-eyed and do season 2," Watkins said. "And there are a lot of advantages to that because you don't second-guess yourself. You just follow your instincts."

He also spoke of Mustafa's Sampson getting a major development arc. "In season 2 in particular, we get to really see Sampson deal with some emotional stuff," Watkins revealed. "He was a support system for Cross in season 1. Those tables get turned a little bit in season 2 because Sampson's got his own personal journey that really sends him to some places. And so that was a lot of fun for us."

'Cross' season 2 premieres Wednesday, February 11, 2026, on Prime Video.
