Former basketball star and NBA Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen's eldest son has died. He shared the news with his followers on his Twitter page on Monday, April 19, announcing that his 33-year-old son Antron had died after battling chronic asthma. In a heartfelt tribute, the 55-year-old said his son could have made it to the NBA if it weren't for his ailment.
Antron was born to Scottie during his first marriage to Karen McCollum, which lasted from 1988 to 1990. "I'm heartbroken to share that yesterday, I said goodbye to my firstborn son Antron. The two of us shared a love for basketball and we had countless conversations about the game," Pippen tweeted.

In a follow-up tweet, Scottie also wrote that he was proud of the man Antron had become and in another tweet he asked for prayers for McCollum and all others who were grieving the loss. "A kind heart and beautiful soul gone away too soon. I love you, son, rest easy until we meet again," Scottie, the father of eight children wrote. Here's a look at the children of the NBA legend.
Who are Scottie Pippen's children?
Antron Pippen
Antron Pippen took after his father and played basketball at Texas A&M International University. Chronic asthma gravely affected his health but Scottie said his son never let it get to him and was always in good spirits who stayed positive and worked hard. He also played at the South Georgia Technical College in the 2006-2007 season.
He played semi-professional ball with the World Basketball Association after signing with South Carolina's Upstate Heat team in 2013. Antron was later believed to have moved to Atlanta where he played for a local team and worked as a machine technician prior to his death.
Taylor Pippen
Scottie's first daughter Taylor Pippen was born in 1994. He shares Taylor with his former girlfriend Sonya Roby. The 26-year-old has maintained a low profile among all of her half-siblings. She lives in Chicago and shares a love for sports just like her father and is highly involved with empowering student-athletes.
She works with Beyond Sports and is a junior board member at the foundation, which according to its website, has "assisted student-athletes from under-resourced communities in the Chicagoland Area to realize their academic and professional goals by giving them the skills necessary to enter and excel in college, as well as succeed in the life beyond sports."
Tyler Pippen
Tyler was Taylor Pippen's twin and they are the only children Scottie shares with Roby, according to Hollywood Life. Tyler died within nine days of her birth. However, Roby filed a paternity lawsuit against the basketball player. A DNA test showed a 99.9 percent probability that Scottie was the father of Roby’s daughter even though he said otherwise. The athlete was ordered by the court to pay $10,000 to Roby, who demanded monthly payments of $11,500 at the time.
Sierra Pippen
Sierra was born to Scottie and his former fiancée Yvette De Leon in 1995. Not much is known about her and the relationship she shares with Scottie, but she was one of the first people to share her grief online after Antron's death. "Took a moment for me to compose this. I can’t help but ask why you? I’d like to hear you laugh again. I’m sad I can’t call you anymore. The happiest and most humble of us all.
"Sometimes He wants the good ones too I guess. Father God watch over my big brother, You truly gained someone so special. Keep hooping up there boaaa. You’ll never be forgotten and I’ll make sure of that. I love you Antron gone too soon," she captioned her tribute post to Antron on her Instagram feed.
Scotty Pippen Jr
Scotty Pippen Jr plays for Vanderbilt Commodores as their point guard. He is the first child Scottie shares with estranged wife Larsa Pippen. A week ago, he took to his Instagram to say that he's ready to pursue his dream to play professionally and announced that he will be waiting for the 2021 NBA Draft, which will take place on July 29.
Pippen Jr also took to his Instagram stories to grieve the loss of his half-sibling. He reshared a couple of photographs of his father and Antron and for the last story, Pippen Jr shared an unseen photo of him with his late half-brother with the caption "RIP Bro".
Preston Pippen
Preston was born in 2002 and like his father and elder brother, he too has gravitated towards being an athlete. He is very close to his siblings and his Instagram feed reflects his quintissential Los Angeles teenager lifestyle.
Justin Pippen
Justin was born in 2005 and is the third son of Larsa and Scottie. He loves basketball as much as his dad and elder brothers Pippen Jr and Preston. His Instagram feed has a lot of photos of him playing the sport with a good measure of family photos thrown into the mix.
Sophia Pippen
Sophia is by far the most famous of the Pippen children. Most of her fame came from her short-lived stint on 'Dancing with the Stars' in 2018. The 12-year-old has already appeared on the cover of Harper's Bazaar Brazil and she appears to be interested in pursuing an acting career. She has a pretty huge following on her Instagram page which is handled by Larsa.
