Who is Michael Herd? Bumble's billionaire founder Whitney Wolfe Herd did not meet her husband on the dating app
The couple actually met on a ski trip and got married in a beautiful, fairytale ceremony in Positano, Italy, in 2017
On January 11, 2021, dating app Bumble founder and CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd became the world's youngest female billionaire. Wolfe Herd (aka Wolfe), 31, who owns 11.6 per cent stake in Bumble Inc., saw her net worth soar to a record high on February 11, 2021, after the company went public, reported Forbes.
In personal life, Wolfe Herd is a mother of one and is married to oil heir and billionaire Michael Herd from Texas.
Who is Michael Herd?
Michael Herd is the heir and grandson of Bob Herd, who started the oil and natural gas firm Herd Producing Company, Inc. in Tyler, Texas, with his wife and two daughters. Michael is currently the vice president of the company, which operates over 400 oil wells across Louisiana and East Texas.
The couple met each other in 2013 in Aspen and got married at a fairytale ceremony in Italy in 2017.
They are now doting parents to their son Bobby Lee Herd II, who was born in December 2019. Wolfe Herd often posts photographs of her happy family. She appears to be in a loving relationship with her husband, whom she even referred to as 'my everything' in her posts.
Whitney Wolfe and Michael Herd's love story
Unlike the popular assumption, Whitney Wolfe did not meet her future husband through her dating app Bumble. Rather, the couple had quite an interesting and romantic first meeting.
They met each other in 2013 in Aspen where both had gone on skiing trips separately, a little before Christmas. In a heartwarming interview with Vogue, Wolfe Herd revealed that she saw Michael for the first time while enjoying a long lunch. She approached him and gave him 'a hard time' for wasting such perfect weather for skiing.
Michael then told her that he did not know how to ski, which left Whitney baffled and she wondered why would someone without the knowledge of skiing come on a ski vacation. Next, Michael suggested that Whitney teach him how to ski. However, on the hill, Michael proved that he was indeed a pro skier and surprised Whitney with his skills. The couple started dating on Valentine's Day, after more than a month of conversations on the phone.
Michael proposed her two years later in June during a trail horseback ride at his family's ranch in Texas. The couple got married in a beautiful, fairytale ceremony in September 2017 in Italy.
