Golden Globe nominee 'It Was Just An Accident' continues to generate headlines after its limited theatrical release in October this year. The focus shifts to the thriller's release on streamers. At the time of writing, the film is available for preorder on Prime Video, but details of where it can be viewed apart from the one streamer are still unavailable.

While the critically acclaimed film made the big screen, typical release dates of movies hitting streaming platforms range from 70-90 days. This means an October release would likely see director Jafar Panahi's feature release early next year. One of the best-known Iranian directors, Panahi's film was nominated for Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Director, and Best Screenplay, and was also nominated for Best Foreign Language Film.

That said, the movie has already seen positive reviews from critics. Rotten Tomatoes sees it average a healthy 98% with the consensus reading, "Perhaps the most bluntly political film by Jafar Panahi yet, It Was Just an Accident is a defiant rebuke of authoritarianism that still delivers the entertainment value of a gripping thriller."

The official synopsis reads, "Vahid, an unassuming mechanic, is suddenly reminded of his time in an Iranian prison when he has a chance encounter with Eghbal, a man he strongly suspects to be his sadistic jailhouse captor. Panicked, Vahid rounds up a few of his fellow ex-prisoners to try and confirm Eghbal's identity.  Master filmmaker Jafar Panahi creates a deeply felt moral thriller, where high stakes tension combines with unexpected flurries of humor and thoughtful, sometimes devastating questions regarding persecution and revenge."

The cast sees Vahid Mobasseri as Vahid, Mariam Afshari as Shiva, Ebrahim Azizi as Eghbal, Hadis Pakbaten as Goli/Golrokh, and Majid Panahi as Ali. Rounding up the cast are Mohammad Ali Elyasmehr as Hamid, Delnaz Najafi as Eghbal's daughter, Afssaneh Najmabadi as Eghbal's wife, and Georges Hashemzadeh as Salar.
