‘Ahsoka’ Season 2 sets release date as first trailer reveals new Baylan Skoll

Ahsoka and Sabine remain stranded on Peridea as Thrawn moves to bring war to the New Republic.

Nearly three years after ‘Ahsoka’ Season 1 ended, Lucasfilm has released the first teaser trailer for the Disney+ series’ return. The footage picks up with Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) still stranded on Peridea while Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) moves ahead with his plans against the New Republic. It also introduces Rory McCann as Baylan Skoll for the first time. ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2 is set to release on Disney+ on January 20, 2027. The teaser trailer was released at D23 in Anaheim on Friday, August 14. The trailer emphasizes the growing conflict across the galaxy and Ahsoka’s personal journey. These conflicts force her to face the most important question: whether she is truly a Jedi.

The footage shows Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren still stranded beyond the known galaxy as they attempt to find their way home, while Grand Admiral Thrawn and his allies move ahead with plans that threaten the New Republic. Season 1 ended in October 2023 with Thrawn escaping Peridea and making the jump to hyperspace. Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi) had secretly boarded his ship, allowing him to return home, but Ahsoka and Sabine were left behind in the distant galaxy. The new footage now places their attempt to get home alongside Thrawn’s campaign to restore the Empire and bring down the New Republic. The teaser also gives viewers their first official look at McCann taking over the role of Baylan. 

The ‘Game of Thrones’ actor succeeds the late Ray Stevenson, who played the former Jedi throughout Season 1. Baylan remained on Peridea at the end of the finale, leaving his next move unresolved. Hayden Christensen will also return as Anakin Skywalker after appearing in Season 1. The returning cast includes Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Eman Esfandi and Ivanna Sakhno, alongside Dawson, Bordizzo and Mikkelsen. Dave Filoni created and wrote the series. ‘Ahsoka’ won the 2024 Emmy for Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes and received four other nominations in craft categories.
