Matthew Perry thrilled fans of the cult sitcom by confirming that the highly-anticipated 'Friends' reunion special will be debuting in March 2021 on HBO Max. "Friends reunion being rescheduled for the beginning of March. Looks like we have a busy year coming up. And that's the way I like it!" he wrote on Twitter on Thursday, November 12. Other castmates like Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Courteney Cox, and Lisa Kudrow are yet to comment on the news.

It was originally supposed to be taped in April and air in May but was pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic. Needless to say, Perry's tweet sent the 'Friends' fans into a meltdown. "Yesssss" one of them tweeted, while another wrote, "On a scale of 1 to 10, how excited are you to be seeing Courteney again," alluding to the rumor that Perry still carried a secret flame for his co-star on the show. "WE BETTER GET SO MUCH BEHIND THE SCENES CONTENT OF YOU AND COURTENEY" another commented.

"OHMIGAWD...I can’t even tell you how excited I am.....Friends defined my twenties," the next quipped. Someone else wrote, "You need to do 'the whole 11 yards' those movies are up there as some of my favorites!" Another said, "The best thing I've seen all day!" One person remarked, "We got rid of Trump & now a Friends reunion! Things are starting to get better."

The announcement of the reunion being delayed was made in August. At the time, the show's co-creator, Marta Kauffman, said the decision to postpone the taping of the reunion episode was because she wanted a live audience to be able to attend. “We all want it to happen. We just have to wait until it is safe. This is a show that is not scripted, but this is the way the show works — we are going to need a live audience. Even if we socially distance that live audience, it really is a huge part of what ‘Friends’ is… We cannot do it without them,” she said in August. “Everyone is all in and we are just waiting for that time when it feels connected to bring in a live audience.”

“Friends” ran for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004 on NBC. The special was announced back in February with all the cast set to executive produce. “Series stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer will return to the iconic comedy’s original soundstage, Stage 24, on the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank for a celebration of the beloved show,” a press release obtained by Fox News at the time read. “The unscripted cast reunion special, along with all 236 episodes of the Emmy-winning series, will be available to subscribers at the launch of HBO Max.”

Meanwhile, Perry hasn't been on TV since the cancelation of his CBS show 'Odd Couple' three years ago. So fans were really excited when he was slated to reunite with his 'Friends' co-stars to film the HBO Max special. Each of the six main cast members was reportedly going to receive between $2.5 million and $3 million for the non-scripted episode. A source previously told the Sun: "It looks like the reunion might have to be scheduled for next year now. It was difficult enough getting everyone on board for filming in March and it will be incredibly hard to get them all together at the same time again."
