'Bridgerton' star Regé-Jean Page reunites with Netflix to headline new erotic thriller series
The former Duke of Hastings from 'Bridgerton' will now be taking up residence at an affluent neighbourhood in sunny Los Angeles! Regé-Jean Page will finally return to Netflix following a three-year hiatus. The thirty-seven-year-old star rose to fame and eminence soon after the release of the debut season of 'Bridgerton' back in December 2020. Now, Page will be headlining an upcoming erotic thriller series, titled 'Hancock Park', as per a Deadline report.
As per sources close to the project, 'Hancock Park' landed in Netflix's kitty after a hotly contested bidding war. The name of the upcoming series is derived from the real-life affluent neighborhood in Los Angeles. Over the years, numerous illustrious residents, including Shonda Rhimes and Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos, have called the neighborhood home. Page is not only starring in the series but also serving as an executive producer alongside Emily Brown, through their production company A Mighty Stranger. Two-time Emmy nominee Drew Comins of Creative Engine is also on board as a co-producer. The series is based on a screenplay written by Matthew Barry of 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' fame.
The plot of 'Hancock Park' seems promising from the outset. Page plays a rank outsider who has the saving grace of being 'dangerously charismatic'. He soon finds himself in the company of a well-to-do Los Angeles family, one that seems to be almost perfect. However, with the passage of time and as our outsider continues living in the family's backyard guest house as a tenant, he soon uncovers the carefully constructed façade of perfection that covers the ugly truth. As per the official Netflix synopsis on Tudum, "He exposes the desire, deceit, and obsession that lurks around every corner of one of LA's most-coveted neighborhoods."
The last time Page was associated with the small screen was for the 2022 Netflix nature documentary 'Surviving Paradise: A Family Tale', where he lent his voice. Despite the debut season of Bridgerton charting a course of phenomenal success, with 82 million households having watched the show either in its entirety or in parts, as per CBR, Page never for once reprised his character in the subsequent seasons of the Regency drama.
Instead, Page chose to focus on movies, starring in projects such as 'Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves', 'The Gray Man', and Steven Soderbergh's spy caper 'Black Bag'. He's also set to appear in the upcoming Universal rom-com film, 'You, Me & Tuscany', alongside Halle Bailey in April 2026. Page is among the very few actors to have achieved the rare feat of having both a series and a movie among Netflix's Top 10 most popular list. Barry, on the other hand, is a Welsh writer who recently wrote 'Men Up' for BBC One, bagging a BAFTA Cymru Award.
