Jonathan Majors gears up for feature film comeback after 4 years away from cameras
Almost four years after his last appearance in front of movie cameras, actor Jonathan Majors is set to make his feature film comeback with the upcoming action film from conservative media outlets The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend. The 'Ant-Man' and 'Creed III' star will begin the production of the upcoming film this week in South Carolina. Kyle Rankin of 'Run Hide Fight' fame is supposed to direct the film, which is based on one of his own screenplays.
Although the working title, plot details, and cast of the action movie have yet to be officially announced, it has been indicated that the film's tone will be similar to that of 1980s and 1990s action movies, such as 'Toy Soldiers' and 'Red Dawn'. Notably, both these movies feature groups of teenagers coming together and joining ranks to fight against formidable, invasive forces. On behalf of The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend, Ben Shapiro of 'The Ben Shapiro Show' and Dallas Sonnier will be serving as producers.
The other producers working on the project include Sydney Aucreman, Travis Mills, and Lillian Campbell. Mike Richards and Caleb Robinson have come on board as executive producers, alongside Jason Ramos from 'Landman' and Majors himself, repping Tall Street Productions. The cinematographer of the upcoming movie is Kristopher Kimlin, whose past credits include 'Young Washington.' The remaining members of the key cast include Vincent Reynaud as production designer, David Guglielmo as casting director, and Emma Fleming as the costume designer.
Majors had a promising career, which was advanced by his contributions to films such as 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania' and 'The Last Black Man in San Francisco'. His appearance on the HBO series 'Lovecraft Country' was also widely praised. However, his career took a severe hit in the aftermath of the allegations of assaulting his former girlfriend.
Majors was found guilty of the charges levelled against him in 2023 and was subsequently dropped from the majority of his slate of movies. Ever since then, the actor has been working to rehabilitate himself and is on the cusp of restarting his career. Apart from the aforementioned action film, Majors is also slated to star in the Martin Villeneuve supernatural revenge thriller 'Merciless.'
Nevertheless, Majors' decision to team up with both Bonfire Legend and The Daily Wire might work in his favour, especially since both production houses are known for restoring the careers of otherwise 'cancelled' celebrities. This was the case when the outlets gave comeback film roles to Armie Hammer and Gina Carano, after the latter was pulled from 'The Mandalorian'. The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend are now gearing up for their biggest television series to date with 'The Pendragon Cycle'.
