LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Lisa Marie Presley is accused of using Scientology to her advantage by her former spouse in a court filing just two weeks prior to her death. Michael Lockwood, 61, who has two daughters with Presley, claimed that she was resisting his attempts to have her pay $40,000 per month in child support by employing 'Fair Game' tactics from Scientology.

Lockwood said Fair Game meant that "any enemy may be lied to, cheated, tricked, or destroyed by any means without discipline" and Presley, who renounced Scientology, was using it on him, as per Daily Mail. He wrote that he had spent $1 million on legal fees while battling with Presley and that he may have to file for bankruptcy because of his financial problems. The filing gives a new insight into the pressure Presley had to endure in her final weeks.

Lisa Marie Presley DEAD: Elvis Presley's daughter, 54, was in induced coma after 'full cardiac arrest'

After suffering a cardiac arrest, Presley died last Thursday, January 12, at the $4 million Calabasas home she shared with her first husband, Danny Keough. Her twins, Finley and Harper, 14, and her daughter Riley Keough, 33, are reportedly refusing to return back there because Presley's death deeply impacted them. On Sunday, January 22, her funeral is set to take place at Graceland, Elvis Presley's estate in Memphis, Tennessee. She was buried on the grounds next to her son, Benjamin, who died by suicide in 2020.

Lockwood, a musician who was Presley's fourth husband, has custody of the twins. He added a bill from his lawyers Yanny & Smith which ran to $48,000 to show how expensive it had been to battle with Presley. "I have had to change attorneys more than three times, and I still owe my prior attorneys for my invoices that I do not know how I will ever be able to pay and may have to discharge in bankruptcy", he wrote according to Daily Mail. "With this history, I have incurred over a million dollars in legal fees. I have incurred well over 400-500 thousand dollars just fighting the malicious frivolous and false allegations against me in both dependency court and before this court. This is exactly what Petitioner has tried to do. She has put me in debt, defamed me, tried to take my children away from me, and it is now that I am finally restoring my name and relationship with my children after many years of alienation and 'Fair Game' tactics."

In 2017, Presley claimed that she discovered "disturbing and inappropriate photographs of children on Lockwood's computer." "'I was shocked and horrified and sick to my stomach. My understanding is that Tennessee law enforcement is also conducting an investigation related to the photos and videos that I discovered", she said as per Daily Mail. However, Lockwood was never charged.

The daughters spent a brief period in the custody of the California Department of Children and Family Services before being taken in by Lisa Marie's mother Priscilla. Lockwood referred to Scientology, which Presley joined at age 11 and quit in 2014 when he said that she was brought up in a "certain belief system." Presley renounced the faith and was scheduled to testify as the key witness in Danny Masterson, a fellow Scientologist, and star of 'That 70s Show', in his controversial retrial.

"It is inevitable that she still holds some of the beliefs of that belief system, especially the 'Fair Game' practice, which includes targeting 'enemies' by ruining reputation and doing other unethical behaviors", Lockwood wrote. "According to the 'Fair Game' practice, an 'enemy may be lied to, cheated, tricked, or destroyed by any means without discipline'. I believe this is exactly what (Presley) has done to me during our legal proceedings with the willing assistance of her current counsel," as per the outlet.

In court documents submitted in the lawsuit in November, it was apparently revealed that Presley was reportedly spending more than $92,000 a month before her untimely death. She was reportedly receiving more than $100,000 a month from the estate and businesses of her father, but she was also spending more than $92,000 a month. Presley possessed $95,266 in cash, $714,775 in stocks and investments, and a $1,000,000 tax debt.
