EXO's Chanyeol is back to talk to fans and EXO-Ls couldn’t be happier. After a controversy that surfaced in November 2020, the popular K-pop star went missing from social media, causing concern among fans. Chanyeol’s agency SM Entertainment chose not to comment on the controversy. But the 28-year-old EXO rapper opened up to fans and apologized for causing concern after three months of absence. Here’s what the singer said.

In a long heartfelt letter, the ‘Let Me Love You’ crooner wrote, “First of all, I wanted to say that I’m sorry for causing concern to EXO-L, who have waited a long time.” He went on saying, “I’ve felt so truly sorry that I couldn’t express it in writing and I thought a lot about EXO-L during that time. I worried and thought a lot about how I could express my feelings to EXO-L in words.”

The letter which was shared through a fan chat group further read, “I was so grateful for the posts and letters of support you sent me on my birthday. As I read each of them, I felt even more sorry and grateful.” He continued, “I thought a lot about how I can protect the precious hearts of EXO-L and how I can make it up to you as well, and I reflected on how I will not cause you worry again.” He added, “Also, I will do my best to make it clear that you were not wrong to believe in me. It’s a day later, but I once again sincerely thank all those who always remembered my first start.. and now that time has passed, congratulated me on my ninth anniversary.”

The ‘Secret Queen Makers’ star concluded by saying, “I also remember and will never forget my start, nine years ago. I won’t forget my mindset from that time. I will definitely protect all the generous love that you’ve sent me. EXO-L, please always stay healthy. Thank you.”

What was the EXO Chanyeol controversy?

For the unversed, Chanyeol’s name was dragged in a controversy where an anonymous social media user claimed that she is Chanyeol’s former girlfriend and while being with her, the rapper had been dishonest and he allegedly cheated on her multiple times which led to her heartbreak. The allegations caused major social media buzz as fans weighed in with their opinions. Chanyeol didn’t address the issue all this time and finally came back to social media to talk to fans.

'True EXO-Ls never doubted you'

After Chanyeol posted the heartfelt letter, EXO-Ls flooded the social media sites with support for the singer. A fan said, “seriously fans must know their limit. this is someone's personal life...let him breath and deliver good music as long as he is happy.” Another fan wrote, “I will trust you until the end chanyeol and I still hate SM ENTERTAINMENT!”

A Chanyeol fan shared, “Chanyeol posted a heartfelt letter on Lysn under basic for everyone to see. It's been so long since we've last heard a word from him and reading his latest letter brings so much emotions. We've missed him dearly. Glad he is doing fine. Please leave positive messages for him!” Another spoke for all saying, “True EXO-Ls never doubted you even for a second Loey. I know I'm late but let me cry in the corner because of happiness. We love you & we trust you Park Chanyeol. We always do. Thank you for coming back!”
