Wendy Williams slams Lizzo for exposing her 'booty' in cut-out dress at Lakers game: 'It's strip club attire'
Wendy Williams didn't hold back any punches when she criticized Lizzo for wearing a revealing T-shirt to the Lakers game. The 31-year-old singer made headlines when she showed up in a dress with a huge cut at the back and twerked her exposed backside as the cheerleaders danced. According to a Sun report, fans were generous in their compliments as they praised the star for body positivity. The site also added that while Wendy admired Lizzo's (real name Melissa Viviane Jefferson) resolve, the outfit was inappropriate for the occasion.
"That's a dress that had the cut-out going on, which means she was sitting booty-down on the seat", Wendy said on her show. "She was sitting booty-down in the car. She was walking booty-exposed into the theater. I would normally think that they would stop her at security and say, 'Um, ma'am, we understand, but there are children here. Games are a family affair and everyone doesn't want to see all that.'"
Wendy also added that she didn't "care whether it's Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Madonna — it's just wrong. Just wrong. Sorry, Lizzo" as the audience clapped. "I admire her going ahead with who she is on one hand," she said. "On the other hand, I think maybe there's a time and a place for a cut-out with a thong showing. "Like maybe at a Lizzo show, or maybe the strip club or maybe the night club. I don't know but to each his own."
"A lot of families aren't shocked by that, you know. We're raising our kids to understand that people do all kinds of things and it's up to you to make your own choices. Good luck, Lizzo," Wendy said.
The singer's style at the Lakers vs. Timberwolves game broke the internet Kim K-style, and while Wendy wasn't exactly complimentary, other celebs have come to Lizzo's rescue. Actress Jameela Jamil was one of the people who was all praise for 'Good as Hell' singer. "It's about being body-shamed and how little it affects her and how happy and successful and grateful she is," Jameela said. Lizzo also spoke about her choice to show off her outfit said she was a "grown-ass woman."
"It doesn’t really matter what goes on on the internet, nothing really breaks my joy," Lizzo said. "I’m a really solid, grounded person. I know that I’m shocking because you’ve never seen—in a long time—a body like mine doing whatever it wants to do and dressing the way that it dresses and moving the way that it moves. I’m surrounded by love, and I just wanna spread that love—and also spread these cheeks. And if you really, really don’t like my a**, you can kiss it."
