LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In the history of the musical show genre, there have been many successful ones like 'Galavant' and 'Eli Stone'. However, there are also a few disappointments like 'Glee', 'Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist', and 'Smash'. Adding to that list is the new drop on Paramount+, ‘Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies'.

The musical series is a new rendition of the classic 'Grease' starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. It premiered on Paramount+ on April 6, with a new episode dropping every week. 'Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies' is created by Annabel Oakes and stars Jackie Hoffman as Asst Principal McGee, Madison Thompson as Susan, Marisa Davila as Jane, Cheyenne Isabel Wells as Olivia, Ari Notartomaso as Cynthia, Charlotte Kavanagh as Rosemary, Tricia Fukuhara as Nancy, Jason Schmidt as Buddy, Kallie Hu as Peg and Johnathan Nieves as Richie.

What day and time will 'Grease: The Rise of the Pink Ladies Season 1 Episode 2 release?

'Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies' drops first episode

The show takes place four years before Danny and Sandy find their happily ever after. It dropped its first episode, which set the base of the series. This episode introduced the four outcast women, Jane, Olivia, Cynthia, and Nancy, in a musical sequence. They are shown as misfits who come together to form a group. The fab foursome work to reclaim the halls of Rydell by making it fun for everyone, despite setbacks from the cheerleaders, jocks, and the assistant principal McGee.

With the release of the first episode, a theme of friendship and drama was set. The series, a musical drama, lacks in that category with several other problems. The fans are not happy with the prequel series and are clearly expressing it.

'Grease is ruined'

As 'Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies' is a prequel series of the 1978 classic 'Grease', fans of the original movie are disappointed with the Parmount+ show. They have pointed out how the classic is ruined by the new series. A fan wrote, "Grease is ruined," while another pinned, "Just like no one wanted Grease 2, we don't want this." Another fan pointed out "Wonder if this will last longer than that terrible a league of their own show hahahaha...I think that only got 1 season lol." One fan was quick to connect it with not getting the streaming platform's subscription. "Just another reason to not get Paramount." One fan pointed out how the producers are being lazy and unoriginal, "Finding new ways to avoid coming up with new ideas."
