There was a time when it was rumored that he had sex with 13,000 women. However, Beatty spoke about the rumor on 'The Graham Norton Show'. He said, “That was a very busy month. You have to be able to live a long time to be able to do that. And nobody twice and quite a number of people every day. The answer to your question is no.”
‘Maybe life can be made up of a series of marriages’
Beatty once revealed why he chose not to marry when it was time. Beatty told ‘The Dick Cavett Show’, “I have nothing against marriage. I never got married because I didn't know that I could stay married. Maybe we have to begin admitting what marriage really is. Maybe society needs to accept that we don't have to feel terribly guilty for more than one marriage.”
“Maybe life can be made up of a series of marriages. I don't know what to think about marriage. I know that we have to come to terms with the family unit itself. I think it's hard to abide by the old rules of marriage in contemporary society and be honest. I think it's hard,” he added.
‘I was trying to avoid divorce’
However, later after tying the knot with Bening, the ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ actor told ‘CBS: Sunday Morning’, “It is the most intelligent thing that I ever have done. I am extremely proud of her in every respect.” He also said as reported by PEOPLE, “I always felt I wasn’t trying to avoid marriage, I was trying to avoid divorce. I had no doubt when I met Annette that it was time to get married.”
Soon after the marriage, Beatty and Bening became parents to their firstborn, Stephen Ira Beatty, who was born a female and initially named Katherine Elizabeth. The 31-year-old began his transition process when he was 14 and is now a writer, poet, filmmaker, as well as activist. The other three children of the two stars are – Ella Beatty, Benjamin Beatty and Isabel Beatty.

‘They’re brilliant and fun’
Following the birth of his children, Beatty reportedly decided to take a back seat as a showman and became a family man for their privacy. He stated, “It is a burden, I think, to have two parents that are well-known, so I completely respect their privacy. I could go on and on and on and on talking about them because they’re brilliant and fun. But no, I think you have to give them a break, and they have their privacy.”
However, with family and other responsibilities, the ‘Rules Don't Apply’ director has never forgotten his love for his wife of over three decades. Beatty told PEOPLE in 2016, “Every day she surprises me.” To which, his 64-year-old Academy Award-winning wife replied, “Definitely he surprises me — absolutely. He does the unexpected thing.”

‘It's pretty no-pressure’
In 2022, Bening spoke of their Valentine’s Day celebration over the years in an interview with People. She said, “It's pretty no-pressure. Valentine's is pretty low-key. He will generally make me like a little Valentine with just a little red felt pen and make a little heart. He's very economical in his message.”
She added, “There's nothing to buy for him. He's one of those men, you cannot find anything that he.... So, no, it's usually something small; it's a little note, it's a flower, yeah.”
