Viral social media theory claims BTS star Jungkook is Princess Diana’s reincarnation
A conspiracy theory claiming that BTS’ youthful star Jungkook is the reincarnation of the late Princess Diana has taken the internet by storm.
The claims started making the rounds on the internet after a TikTok user carefully drew similarities between the lives of the people’s princess and the K-pop industry's most celebrated artist. Backing their claim, the user pointed out that Jungkook was born just a day after Princess Diana’s tragic death. Reincarnation or transmigration is a Buddhist belief that says the soul holds the power to start a new life in another physical body after death.

The video, which has garnered more than 5.4 million views on the video-sharing platform, exhibits a pair of Wikipedia pages that highlight the fact that Jungkook was born on September 1, 1997, a day after Diana’s death on August 31, 1997. Diana died after the car she was traveling in with her rumored boyfriend Emad “Dodi” Fayed crashed in the Pont de l’Alma tunnel in Paris, France.

The video then pointed out Diana revealing her childhood dream of becoming a dancer and showed Jungkook's roles in BTS on the "dancer line." Moving further, the TikToker also showed the pair wearing similar clothes to help prove their case. In the images, Diana was seen wearing her infamous "revenge dress" which she wore after the televised admission of adultery by her husband Prince Charles of Wales. On the other hand, the image showed Jungkook in a dashing black outfit.
Other comparisons mentioned in the video include a similar scar on their left cheekbones and a tattoo on Jungkook’s index finger which looks similar to Diana’s tiara. The user also noted how Jungkook has the same coy smile as the late Princess. Resting their case, the TikTok user ended the video by showing an image of Princess Diana falling asleep at a royal engagement in 1981 and a photo of Jungkook sleeping on a train.
Though some were angry at the claims, most users found the video interesting. "This is the funniest conspiracy theory ever! I love it," commented one TikTok user. Another suggested, "Take a day off." A third wrote, "I was skeptical at the start but it just kept going."
The conspiracy theory garnered public attention just a few days after some fans claimed that nonbinary YouTuber Trisha Paytas' baby would be born as the reincarnated Queen Elizabeth II.
