'Vikings' Season 6 Episode 3: Fans want Lagertha back on the battlefield even as she prepares to face old enemies

Despite Lagertha’s deep desire to live a humble life, her luck brings her face to face with another battle, and her fans cannot wait to see the warrior maiden back in action slaying her enemies

For quite a while, Lagertha has been working on her retirement plan. After seeing endless bloodshed and losing all the people she loved and cared about, the iconic female Viking and the legendary shieldmaiden now wants to resort to a life away from all the mayhem.

She is tired and exhausted of seeing death and destruction. But life never goes the way one expects or wants, does it? Lagertha has barely started to live like a simple peasant woman when her village faces an unexpected attack.

As the new season opens, we saw the supporters of Ivar being branded and sent to exile from Kattegat. Now, they have returned in full vigor to seek revenge on Lagertha. But instead of attacking her directly, they attack the women who sought refuge with Lagertha. After all, she is still the queen in all her right.

As one user commented, "Lagertha stepped away from the throne but she is still a queen especially to the women who have lost their menfolk and sons #HistoryVikings"

And, to save the people she feels responsible for, and cares about, she will do anything, even if it means picking up the sword and shield again. Yes, Lagertha had vowed not to fight anymore. But vows can and need to be broken in times of exigent needs. The fan added, "Lagertha will take up the sword again for the women. #HistoryVikings."

As far as Lagertha's character is concerned, Kathryn Winnick shines as always with her portrayal of the most powerful leading lady of the story. She has always been a star in her own right as fans would also agree.

One fan cannot be less excited and shares his love and admiration for both the character and the actor. "It was a wonderful Wednesday @KatherynWinnick one more chapter of Season 6. No words. @HistoryVikings #Vikings #HistoryVikings #Season6 - I loved it. Thank you so much @KatherynWinnick”

Now, whether she will become the axe-wielding Vikings warrior again and make it to Valhalla, or will she will end her life humbly is something the future chapters of the epic saga will tell. But all we can say, for now, is that Lagertha is not going back to the shadows anytime soon.

Watch the legends of 'Vikings' continue to unfold, every Wednesday at 9 pm only on History Channel.
