‘Vikings’ Season 6 Episode 10: Ivar kills Bjorn Ironside in midseason finale, leaves fans in tears
And so is happened! The Rus and the Vikings battled it out on the shores of Norway. Norwegian king Harald, Bjorn Ironside, his wife Gunnhild, Erik the Red and King Olaf faced the mighty Russian army of Oleg, with Ivar leading the way.
The Rus warriors charge the Vikings on the beach, shield-maidens scream and they all break into a war leading to a bloodbath. And in the middle of all this, King Olaf narrates the brutality of the situation.
Beautifully shot between flashbacks and flashforwards, the war scene portrayed the ruthlessness of Oleg’s men who wiped out the Vikings one at a time. King Harald is injured and both Bjorn and he lose their men. Intermittently, we see Bjorn and Ivar having a conversation about how their father would have been proud, each proving their own point. Back to the battlefield, the Lothbrok brothers come face to face and with a sudden blow, Ivar plunges a sword in Bjorn’s chest. While we still process the scene, fans break into tears. Some are shocked, while others cannot get over what just happened.
One fan on Twitter cannot believe that this is how Bjorn’s story would end. He says, “WAIT THAT IS HOW THEY KILL HIM OFF???? #Vikings #VikingsSeason6 #Vikings6 #History.”
Another joins in saying, “That was some straight bullshit. They made it look way too easy for him to kill Bjorn #Vikings #vikings6 #vikingsseason6 wow... they actually killed him off.”
Some, who are not great fans of Bjorn Ironside, said they didn't want Ivar to win. One such fan comments, “Even though I am not a big Bjorn fan right now, I really don’t want Ivar to win #vikings #historyvikings,”
The ones who are ruing the death of their favorite character cannot take this and are saying things like, “I kind of don’t want to watch the rest of the season now 😭😭😭😭 ugh #vikings #historyvikings” or, “What the hell !! why you kill Bjorn #vikingsseason6” and “Nooooo!!! Bjorn!!!! 😱 #Vikings #vikingsseason6”
Having said that, we still haven’t seen him take his last breath and we can assume that he might not be dead after all. But unless we see him rise back, it will appear that this is the end of the journey for Bjorn Ironside and time to join his valiant parents in Valhalla. Thus, the midseason break leaves us with the biggest shock and a cliffhanger scene that we had never expected.
