Characters die. Artistes don't — as one of the leading characters, Katheryn Winnick has proven time and again through six seasons of History Channel's 'Vikings'.

And then as is the destiny of every character of every story, her character Lagertha had to meet her end in the most unexpected way and we had to say goodbye. However, that doesn't necessarily end Winnick's journey on the show.

The Canadian actor has been an integral part of the show and wanted to showcase herself once again before calling in the final farewell from the 'Vikings' family.

Once she was done with her on-screen presence, Winnick took to directing and made her debut with Episode 8 'Valhalla Can Wait'.

The chapter that follows her death and a grand funeral thereafter is going to be critical with Bjorn trying to avenge his mother's death, Harald planning an attack on all other Viking kingdoms, and Oleg about to raid Norway.

With so much happening, it would be quite a challenge for a debutante director to ensure an incredible output. Fans have been wondering if Winnick will do justice to directing as she has done in acting for years.

Some fans contemplate, "I'm excited/worried. I actually thought she directed an episode before?" To that, others responded saying, "Nope, this is her first. She’s definitely not taken the easy route because this episode will have a few pivotal and epic scenes. I hope she's done a great job."

Others, including us, also agree. They comment, "I hope so too. Plus this show means a lot to her so I'm sure she put her heart and soul in directing this episode."

There have been talks of Winnick taking up directorial ventures and starting with a show that has been close to her heart for years. In an exclusive interview, Winnick shared her experience of turning a director and standing behind the camera instead of facing it.

With this episode, the actor will finally say goodbye to the show but as is the case with 'Vikings', there's always some surprise up the creators' sleeve and they will never miss an opportunity to surprise us. Guess, we'll have to wait and watch.

'Vikings' airs every Wednesday on the History Channel.
