A new viral video on TikTok shows a puppy spotted laying on a blanket at a Wendy's drive-thru was rescued. Viewers of the video had mixed feelings, after seeing a good Samaritan rescue an abandoned puppy at a Wendy's drive-thru. The video may have warmed the hearts of many but there were some who questioned the entire scope of the situation.

@misfitangelsdogrescue posted the video of a Detroit dog rescue in snowy conditions. The creators of the video record themself walking through a fast-food drive-thru while cars pass by a dog sitting on a blanket in the video. The text in the video read, “So many cars were driving past/ignoring her.”  Then on the next slide, which showed the dog in the creator's back seat captioned, “Opened my car door and she came right up, wagging her tail, then got scared so I picked her up.”

The video was viewed over 1.8 million times as of now and the comments section was flooded with over 10,000 comments, many people in the comment section of the video thanked the creator for rescuing the dog. One person wrote, “Seeing how many people pass her wants to make me lose faith in humanity.” “Omg..makes me angry how many hundreds of ppl saw her and did nothing! thank you for helping her,” another person added.

Among these positive comments, some people, however, pointed out that the dog might have belonged to someone experiencing homelessness and the creator might have taken the dog away from them. Just like one person remarked in the comment section of the video, “I think she might belong to a homeless person and was waiting by their blanket for them to come back.” However, the creator didn’t respond to any of these remarks.

American Humane Society suggests approaching stray dogs cautiously and calling the authorities first if necessary. If the dog seems friendly, you should look for ID or tags and see if there is a phone number on his collar. If the dog does not have a microchip, you can have your local shelter scan it for one. In addition, it is a good idea to distribute "found dog" flyers nearby afterward.
