Father who escaped burning house with his children dies after going back inside to rescue pet dog
Forty-year-old Sam Crawford's body was discovered later in the basement rubble; the dog's body was not located
A father of two from Maine who managed to escape his burning house along with his family was tragically killed when he went back in the blaze to look for their beloved pet dog.
Maine Public Safety Department Spokesman Steve McCausland revealed that 40-year-old Sam Crawford had managed to escape along with the rest of his family before he rushed back inside the house in Orland on Monday evening.
Crawford's two daughters -- 9-year-old Lillian Crawford and 5-year-old Ella Crawford -- managed to survive the blaze along with two other adults- 26-year-old Cassandra Morse and 19-year-old Alex Chaffee.
