Vanessa Bryant Posts moving tribute to Kobe Bryant on Valentine's Day: 'Missing you so much on your favorite holiday'
Vanessa Bryant posted an emotional tribute to her late husband Kobe Bryant on Instagram on the occasion of Valentine's Day, which she called Kobe's "favorite holiday." The post comes nearly one month after Kobe Bryant and their daughter, Gianna "Gigi" Bryant's untimely deaths in a helicopter crash.
The Los Angles Lakers legend and his 13-year-old daughter died alongside seven others in the accident on January 26th.
Set to the song 'Tell Him' by Lauryn Hill, the post shows a picture of Kobe wrapping his arms around Vanessa, kissing her cheek. She captioned the post, "To my forever Valentine, I love you so much. Missing you so much on your favorite holiday. [I love you forever]. Kisses to you and Gigi in heaven. Happy Valentine’s Day, my babies. With all my love, your boo-boo."
The snippet of the song featured on the post had lyrics saying, "Though I may suffer I'll envy it not / And endure what comes / 'Cause he's all that I got and tell him / Tell him I need him / Tell him I love him."
Vanessa, 37, met Kobe when she was in high school on the set of a music video. In an Instagram post celebrating their 12th wedding anniversary, Kobe revealed that he asked for Vanessa's number in November 1999.
Vanessa and Kobe Bryant got married in April 2001 amidst a fallout with Kobe's family. The late basketball player's family reportedly disapproved of him marrying so young and to someone who was not African-American.
The couple was married for 19 years before Kobe's and their daughter, Gigi's untimely death. Kobe is also survived by their three daughters, Natalia, 17, Bianka, 3, and Capri, 7 months.
A public memorial service will be held on February 24th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles to honor all nine victims of the crash. When Vanessa, 37, announced the service, she explained that the date, 2/24, has a special significance: Gigi wore the No. 2 jersey on her youth teams, while Kobe wore No. 24 as a Laker.
