'Van Helsing' Season 4 Episode 8 Preview: 'The Prism' teases a look into Hansen's past as Violet searches for a way to kill the Dark One

In the fallout of last episode's big events, Violet has a tough road ahead of her, and we're teased with glimpses of Hansen's origins.

A fair number of game-changing events happened last episode, providing a real turning point for the season. As a newly-revealed Van Helsing, Violet (Keeya King) makes her escape and gets started on the process of finding a weapon to destroy the Dark One. But will she able to do it in time to rescue her sister Jack (Nicole Munoz) from the clutches of Dracula’s Brides?

Last episode, the Dark One was finally summoned, but quickly cast back into the Dark Realm thanks to a sacrifice from Vanessa (Kelly Overton), leaving the two new Van Helsings - Jack and Violet - on their own. They have been tasked by none other than Abraham Van Helsing himself with retrieving the missing pages from the Van Helsing family’s book, and finding out how to create a weapon capable of ending the Dark One herself. Jack is subsequently forced to let herself be captured by Bathory (Jesse Stanley) to buy Violet time to get away.

The promo for ‘Van Helsing’ Season 4, Episode 8 was released with the following synopsis: “3 Pages are key to raising or destroying the Dark One, but only Hansen knows where they are hidden.”

The promo for the next episode also teases a flashback involving “Wilhem”, Hansen’s (Neil McDonough) true name. It is possible we are going to get a closer look into Hansen’s past, and how he joined the Brides of Dracula as a vampire. The focus is certainly on him this episode, as Bathory threatens Jack, implying Hansen will be able to force Jack into compliance. Most importantly, though, Hansen is the only one who knows where to find the pages Violet needs to construct the Dracula slaying weapon she needs to save the world.
