Did Lil Wayne pay Donald Trump for Presidential pardon? Wild theories about rapper's 'long game' surface online
President Donald Trump’s last full day in office will be on Tuesday, January 19. As per political experts, Trump is said to issue around 100 pardons and commutations to several white-collar criminals, including some from the musical industry. Rapper Lil Wayne’s name has also surfaced online, where many are claiming that the rapper might receive a pardon from the president before his term ends.
Last-minute presidential pardons is a customary tradition for outgoing US presidents. Whenever a sitting president leaves office, he pardons a significant number of people before his successor starts his term. US President Donald Trump has not yet revealed the names of people he might pardon, but as per a report from TMZ, several people anticipate that he may pardon Lil Wayne for his federal gun case.
Lil Wayne endorsed Trump
Following the reports that Lil Wayne get a pardon from President Donald Trump, several wild theories about the rapper’s manipulative strategies have surfaced online. Several social media users even stated that it was Lil Wayne’s long game plan to endorse President Trump so that he might be in the receiving end of the pardon in the future.
Just weeks before Election Day, Lil Wayne officially endorsed President Trump by sharing a photoshopped image of himself meeting the president, followed by a video on his Instagram Stories in which he announced that he would choose President Trump over Joe Biden because of the proposed tax plan from the Democratic candidate.
In October 2020, Lil Wayne had a meeting with President Donald Trump. The controversial rapper shared a photo of them smiling together with thumbs up. Lil Wayne, 38, said back then that he is endorsing Trump for his presidential campaign against his Democratic challenger Joe Biden based on his track record on criminal justice reform. Lil Wayne added that he is also excited about Donald Trump’s Platinum Plan.
“Just had a great meeting with @realdonaldtrump @potus,” he wrote. “Besides what he’s done so far with criminal reform, the platinum plan is going to give the community real ownership. He listened to what we had to say today and assured he will and can get it done.”
Hip-hop artist 50 Cent said that he was “sure” Lil Wayne could have been paid to support Donald Trump. He also claimed he was offered $1 million to attend the president’s inauguration in 2017, which he passed on. Now many on social media are claiming that it was Lil Wayne, who reportedly paid Donald Trump to receive the pardon that he so much needs at this moment.
"Lil Wayne was playing The Long Game. Y’all wouldn’t understand," writes one user on Twitter. While another user included Kanye West's plans as he writes, "Kanye and Lil Wayne were playing the long game y’all jus wasnt payin attention." Another user claims Lil Wayne "paid" Donald Trump to receive the pardon. He writes, "Lil Wayne will only get himself right back into trouble. I’d love for him to brag about the money he paid to Trump for the pardon."

Lil Wayne's gun charges
Dwayne Carter Jr, who goes by his stage name Lil Wayne, has always found himself amid legal controversies. In 2008, Lil Wayne was arrested for the possession of narcotic drugs and misconduct involving weapons. He was later incarcerated, severing a one-year sentence on weapon charges. On October 22, 2009, Wayne pleaded guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon. He was later released from the Rikers Island jail after serving eight months of his year-long sentence.
In December 2020, Dwayne Carter again pleaded guilty to a federal firearms charge brought against him by the US Attorney in Florida. The incident in question was dated to 2019, when Carter was arrested after transporting a loaded handgun on his private jet from California. Since he is a convicted felon, he was barred from possessing any such weapons. If Lil Wayne gets a pardon from President Donald Trump himself, it would surely be a win for him as he is said to reappear in court on January 28, 2021, where he currently faces a maximum of 10 years in prison.
