Kelvin Gastelum faced his third loss on Saturday night after Jack Hermansson locked him in a heel hook in flat 75 seconds, guaranteeing a first-round victory for himself.

“Every time I step in there it’s so much pressure,” Hermansson said. “Everything I do in my life is working to this goal – to become the best in the world. And when you get the victory there is no feeling like it. I love it, man," he said after his win against Gastelum who is touted as one of the most exciting players in the promotion. While many are of the belief that a three-fight loss (he lost to Israel Adesanya in April 2019 and Darren Till in November 2019) will not affect him at least when it comes to remaining with the UFC, Kelvin was quick to apologize to the loss. "Truly embarrassed guys. I’m sorry. My team, my family @UFC @danawhite @Mickmaynard2 You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so u can know who u are, what u can rise from, how u can still come out of it," he wrote on his Twitter page.

Even though Gastelum has been quick to apologize for his performance, there is a section of MMA fans who are not truly leaning into his words. "Gastelum is a fraud," tweeted one. While another said, "I think Kelvin Gastelum lost because of that Samurai Jack man-bun #UFCFightIsland2," wrote another. "Kelvin Gastelum is even losing by heel hooks now. Heel hook, people. A HEEL HOOK" read another tweet. Another tweeted, "Gastelum smoked too much weed." Another tweet read, "You should move back down to middleweight and stop eating so many tacos."

However, all is not lost for Gastelum who still has a swarm of loyalists rallying behind him, assured of the fact that he will bounce back in a blink. "You’re the man, KG. On to the next one... you have zero reasons to be embarrassed," wrote a fan on his apology post. "It’s okay Kelvin, we didn’t get a chance to see your performance and notice your improvements- you will bounce back!" wrote another. "You have been fighting high level competition Kelvin. You are a great fighter and myself and many others enjoy your fights. We look forward to the next one and you getting a W," read another tweet.
