What is Tony Romo's net worth? Here's how CBS Super Bowl LV host became the highest-paid sportscaster ever
Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is once again seen hosting the Super Bown on CBS alongside host Jim Nantz. This is the second time when Romo is hosting the event. Fans now want to know how much money this 40-year-old host has minted in all these years.
Ten days before the game in a conference call, Romo gushed about the historic quarterback matchup pitting six-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against Patrick Mahomes of the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs. “This is the biggest game Patrick Mahomes will ever play in for the rest of his career,” Romo says. “He has to win this game. If he loses this game, he cannot catch Tom Brady, in my opinion.”

The first Super Bowl broadcast which was hosted by Nantz and Romo came two years ago when the New England Patriots defeated the San Francisco 49ers in what turned out to be the lowest-scoring Super Bowl in history.
Antonio Ramiro Romo was born on April 21 of 1980 in San Diego, California, in an Army family. He went to Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois, where he played for the NCAA Division I-AA Eastern Illinois Panthers football team and was a member of Sigma Pi. On December 19, 2002, Romo became the first player in Eastern Illinois and Ohio Valley Conference history to win the Walter Payton Award, which is given annually to the top Division I-AA football player. Romo signed with Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2003. He played 14 seasons since 2003 with the Cowboys. Besides that, he was named to the Pro Bowl four times and finally retired in 2016 due to a back injury.
In an interview with CNBC in 2017, Romo called his transition from playing in the NFL to calling games an “exciting” move. “To have something that you’re, A) passionate about, B) that kind of keeps you competitive — not everyone gets a chance to do that,” Romo told CNBC in 2017 when asked about his transition to the calling games for CBS. “And then to get a chance to work with the great Jim Nantz, it’s kind of like a home run.”
According to Celebrity Net Worth, his total net worth is $70M. The former quarterback also received a lot of attention when he signed a $100M contract to stay in the CBS network. As per the deal, Romo earns $17M per year, making him the highest-paid sportscaster to this date.
In 2008, it was reported that Romo had bought a home in Valley Ranch, Irving, Texas. He paid $699,000 for the house, which is painted in all black and white. Due to dark features like black tile floors and questionable decor choices, it was widely assumed that this purchase represented a long-term investment rather than an actual living space for the NFL star. In 2016, he sold this 5,551-square-foot home for $1.05M, earning a significant return on his initial investment.
