Tom Selleck turns 78: 'Friends' actor prefers quiet ranch life with family to high-profile career
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The famed ‘Friends’ actor Tom Selleck just turned 78. The acting veteran is well known and loved for his performances in a variety of roles in various projects such as 'Friends', ‘Magnum PI,’ ‘Blue Bloods,’ ‘Three Men and a Baby' and ‘Jesse Stone: Death in Paradise.’ His role as Thomas Magnum in ‘Magnum PI’ was the one that took him to stardom and made him a household name. Since then, Selleck has not looked back and has only risen higher.
However, the actor has now taken a step back and lives a quiet life on a ranch in California, doing chores and spending time with his grandchildren when they visit. He has been married to his wife-of-35-years, Jillie Mack, since 1987. They share a daughter named Hannah Margaret, an equestrian who launched Descanso Farm, a breeding and training operation for horses. Prior to his current marriage, Selleck was married to model Jacqueline Ray for 11 years between 1971 to 1982. They have a son named Kevin.

Tom Selleck’s low-key married life
While Selleck was the apple of everyone’s eye for his handsome looks, the actor was surprisingly not very smooth with women. This had only increased exponentially after his divorce from Ray but had come back tenfold when he was introduced to his current wife Jillie Mack. Mack is an English actress whom he met backstage at a production of ‘Cats’.
Mack also made the first move and asked him out for cocktails later that night when she realized he could not bring himself to keep the conversation going, AmoMama reports. The rest is history as the pair got married and raised their daughter Hannah out of the spotlight.
Tom Selleck’s laid-back life today
The actor now lives a life out of the Hollywood limelight, being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather to six grandchildren. He had wanted to see much of them during the pandemic but had to restrict his visits because his current project, ‘Blue Bloods’, would not have gone ahead without him. He has owned his ranch since the '80s and now lives there in peace as he spends his time planting oak trees. He enjoys the contrast that the ranch brings to his star-studded life and he escapes reviews of his performances by canceling out the noise and losing himself in his tree-planting hobby. The ranch also has horses that the actor enjoys taking care of.
