'Capone': Makeup team behind Tom Hardy's transformation into real-life 'Scarface' deserves Oscar, say fans

Considering Hardy and Capone don’t share any resemblance to each other, fans had earlier wondered whether casting Hardy was the right choice

When the news of Tom Hardy donning the role of the famous gangster Al Capone, known by the nickname "Scarface", in the upcoming movie ‘Capone’ broke, many fans were skeptical about it. Considering Hardy and Capone don’t share any resemblance to each other, fans wondered whether casting Hardy was the right choice. But now that the film’s trailer and posters are out, fans can’t help but admire the makeup team’s efforts who managed to transform the handsome Hollywood star into one of the most dreaded gangsters.
 
Photographer Greg Williams recently posted a closeup shot of Hardy while he was playing Al Capone. The post quickly managed to rack up over 38,000 likes and a stream of comments appreciating the photographer and the makeup team. Greg captioned the photo with, “@tomhardy as #AlCapone in @joshuatrank ‘s #Capone out soon Amazing make up by @audreydoyle1 #Fonzo #tomhardy #joshtrank #gregwilliams #gregwilliamsphotography #LeicaSL.”
 
Fans couldn’t stop singing praises of Audrey Doyle, who is responsible for the jaw-dropping transformation of the young Hardy to Al Capone in his twilight years. A fan wrote, “Holy sh*t an Oscar for that makeup.”

Another fan commented, “Amazing makeup.” “Astonishing make up job & Incredible portrait as usual !!,” complimented a fan.

“Holy sh*t this is amazing. Can’t wait to see Tom in this,” shared an excited fan while another said, “Wow! What a transformation and great photo as always @gregwilliamsphotography."

“Incredible transformation!!!Really a makeup !Artist! this @audreydoyle1 !!! But... I like him better without all this make up! Can't wait to see this movie,” expressed a fan.
 
The movie ‘Capone’ documents the final years of Capone when he was in frail health before he eventually died. The movie will be released digitally on Tuesday, May 12. Watch the trailer below:
