Tom Cruise ACCUSED of promoting 'Top Gun: Maverick' at Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations
Tom Cruise's stylish entrance at Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee festivities in Windsor on Sunday was slammed by fans, who accused the Hollywood A-lister of stealing the show. The 59-year-old focused entirely on his upcoming movie 'Top Gun: Maverick' during his chat with Phillip Schofield and Julie Etchingham on the occasion.
One of the first guests to sit down with Phil and Julie was megastar Tom Cruise, who told them about his affection for the United Kingdom and, in particular, The Queen. But Cruise couldn't help himself from plugging in his new movie, and he was soon talking about it in great detail. "Every film I make is important," the Hollywood actor remarked, "But this one, people have been asking for decades.” He added, "For decades I’ve been thinking 'what could I do?'"

Cruise sang accolades for the monarch, but he failed to wow the ITV audience because his much-anticipated film was in the spotlight. Cruise said, “It's a wonderful event; it's an honor to be here. It's a privilege,” while he spoke about the celebration. He spoke about the Queen, “She is just a woman that I greatly admire. She has tremendous devotion and I admire her dignity. I love the history. I have great respect for her. It's wonderful, I really love the tradition. What a moment!” Fans, on the other hand, flocked to social media to criticize the 'Mission: Impossible' star and said that he was stealing the Jubilee spotlight.
One person on Twitter said, “Why else do you think he's there? I can guarantee he knows nothing about the royals!” Another said, "@ITVNewsitvnews @ITV if you interview a movie star/actor, what do you think they're going to talk about other than themselves? If you want to make it about the Queen be more selective of your choice of guests.”
One other person said, “Ha ha great! More celebs should just ignore the b*****ks and use it as a means to flog their new stuff to the public #AbolishTheMonarchy.” Another wrote, “Tom Cruise being at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration is the most random booking they’ve made so far 😂 #PlatinumJubilee #TheQueen #TomCruise.”

One more person said, “@ITV What the hell has a 10 minute Tom Cruise interview got to do with the queens Platinum Jubilee? Apart from advertising his film. Now switched off as so disappointed.”
Another wrote, “Shame on ITV. What has Tom Cruise got to do with the Queen’s Jubilee? I can’t believe they have got it so wrong. It’s laughable. Vile bunch of luvies,” while another said, “Could someone please explain what Tom Cruise has to do with the Platinum Jubilee? Are we out of British national treasures who would jump at the chance to take part?”
