'Today' host Carson Daly mocked by co-hosts as he opens up about celebrating 'scary milestone' in 3 weeks
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Today’ host Carson Daly got mocked by his co-hosts during his live segment after he talked about his 'scary milestone'. The topic of his landmark came up after he discussed Niall Horan appearing on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’.
On Thursday, May 1 ‘Today’ broadcast, Carson Daly shared the news of turning 50 in the next three weeks. While he was hosting the 'POPStart' segment, he admitted to receiving a mail the other day which gives him discounts on his birthday. He sneakily revealed that he’d rather say "I’m 40 and pay full price." After his statement, he was trolled by co-hosts Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, Al Roker, and Craig Melvin. It’d be Daly’s second grand celebration after he had an emotional week following his best friend Blake Shelton’s farewell from ‘The Voice’.
Carson Daly’s scary milestone
On a recent ‘Today’ stream, host Carson Daly shared his 'POPStart' segment with co-hosts and discussed a few topics, including Niall Horan’s appearance on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’. He talked about birthday traditions and wanting to get rid of the 40-second spiel people usually get on their birthday. He said, “Speaking of birthdays, I got this in the mail the other day." He continued as he concluded Niall’s topic, “Jackson brought me this and goes ‘Dad, this is for you.’”
The camera turned toward a thick envelope with AARP as the return address highlighting, “Card enclosed." Daly smirked, and said, “This is from AARP. I have a big birthday coming up in three weeks." Hoda suddenly asked, “You turn 50?” while Craig bragged, “Did you join? You get discounts." In response, Daly replied that he will and said that he’d rather pay full price and say that he is 40. Before they moved to the next topic, Al barked and said, “You say that now, but you get discounts on those movie tickets.” Carson teased his statement, “Oh boy. Lucky me." Al continued and finished adding, “Hey, that’s half the price of your popcorn right there." Daly didn’t pay heed to his co-hosts' jabs and continued with the next topic.
'Buddy, it is time to retire the Blake Shelton Jean Jacket'
Earlier last month, Carson took a few days off from the morning show to be in Los Angeles to host his best friend, Blake Shelton’s final episode of ‘The Voice’. The season finale of the singing competition got extra emotional for Daly as it was Shelton’s last day as a coach. Upon his return to the show, he shared a sweet clip from ‘The Voice’ where he gave a hilarious surprise to Blake. He said, “And just like any other coach when it's time to walk away from the game, throw in the towel, pack it in, and call it a day, we commemorate this big moment like any other great American athlete. Buddy, it is time to retire the Blake Shelton Jean Jacket."
