If there's one thing the makers of 'Snowpiercer' are good at, it's setting up climactic episodes. 'The Original Sinners,' their most recent outing and Season 3 finale, stands proof of that. Written by Aubrey Nealon and Graeme Mason, Episode 10 of 'Snowpiercer' Season 3 begins with Wilford trying to raise an army to overthrow Layton while the latter teams up with Josie to bring the Tailies together for the imminent battle.

We also see Melanie try her best to convince Ruth to side with her leaving Ruth rather confused by the end of the conversation. She goes on to join hands with Wilford and they ask Roche to be a part of their movement against Layton. Roche agrees but eventually realizes that all of this will work in one person's favor and that happens to be Wilford, who will bring back the tyranny should he succeed in overthrowing Layton.

Using Zarah, Melanie and Layton trick Wilford and force him to leave the Snowpiercer and he seems to accept his fate, leaving the train on the same rail car that Melanie used. The two reach a compromise after banishing Wilford as Melanie stays back with a few members on the main track while Layton leaves for New Eden with the rest. They make it to the region after facing some obstacles and find out that it is indeed warm and that there's no requirement to wear their suits anymore.

Episode 10 of 'Snowpiercer' Season 3 ends with Melanie spotting an explosion in the sky three months after Layton's departure to New Eden. Not much is revealed about the origins of the explosion and only time or rather Season 4 will tell what caused it.

'The Original Sinners,' directed by James Hawes, is executed in a manner that the show is famous for. Hawes maintains the tension right till the end, making it a nail-biting watch. Two scenes stand out in this amazing episode. The first one is the sequence where the Tailies prepare for battle. Boosted by a rousing speech by Layton, the shots of them gearing up for battle are spliced with shots of the brakemen setting up their shields and other material, in all making for an intense scene. The second is towards the end when Layton and crew struggle to make it to New Eden. You'd expect their journey to be easier after all the trouble they've been through but that's not the case at all. The uneasiness is spread in a way that's extremely effective and we feel equally jarred towards the end.

Sadly, we're going to have to wait for a while to know what happens next but the good news is that 'Snowpiercer' was renewed for a fourth season around June of 2021. It is coming but it's just a little indefinite. But hey good things take time!
