Spoilers for 'Snowpiercer' Season 3 Episode 4

Key characters and fans alike had a lot to process in what comes as the fourth episode of 'Snowpiercer' Season 3. The previous episode, titled 'The First Blow,' was a game of cat and mouse, as Layton (Daveed Diggs) and Mr Wilford (Sean Bean) vied for the upper hand. Layton returned, with the Resistance's pirate ship, just in time to stop Ruth (Alison Wright) from losing her hand at the port. If not for Layton's timely intervention, Ruth's arm would have been left to hang outside the Snowpiercer till it froze, after which it would be broken off. After a stand-off, Layton manages to overpower Mr Wilford and gets him to surrender the train publicly.

Episode 4 of 'Snowpiercer' Season 3, called 'Bound By One Track,' takes off right after the events that unfolded in 'The First Blow.' Mr Wilford has been imprisoned, while Layton tries to get the train to vote on setting course to New Eden. He asks Asha (Archie Panjabi), the survivor from Nuclear Nest, to join him in making people buy into the idea and vision of New Eden. Asha manages to do so but she isn't entirely convincing. She's yet to settle down, being marred with images of the Nest and the things she had to do to survive.

Bennett (Iddo Goldberg) and Alex (Rowan Blanchard) set out to clear the tracks for the Snowpiercer after they find three Big Alice carriages, discarded by Mr. Wilford, blocking its path. Alex has visions of Melanie Cavill (Jennifer Connelly) throughout the episode, conversing with her about everything that has been bothering her. Assisting Ben and Alex from the Snowpiercer is Javi (Roberto Urbina), who is also hallucinating, he keeps seeing Jupiter, Mr. Wilford's dog. The duo finds out that the discarded cars hold the bodies of those Mr. Wilford found unfit and unworthy. Among those frozen to death is Shiloh, one of Alex's oldest friends. Ben and Alex, though repulsed by the borderline genocidal move, try to finish the mission they set out on, with a jaded Javi trying his best to help them out.

Ruth moves around freely, spending time with Pike (Steven Ogg), eventually getting intimate with him. Pike tries to get her to lead the train and he also second-guesses things when it comes to Layton. Parallelly, Mr. Wilford, having imaginary conversations with Melanie, begins to open up on how he feels about Alex. We get to see a more humane side to the otherwise dictatorial man. While all this is going on, an extremely disturbed Roche tries to pull himself together but ends up entering Mr. Wilford's cell, injecting him with toxins. Roche (Mike O'Malley) is traumatized by the loss of his family and begrudgingly holds Wilford responsible for the entire mishap.

Episode 4 of 'Snowpiercer' Season 3 ends with Ben and Alex being summoned back to the Snowpiercer after they're unable to accomplish the mission, while Layton tries to make amends with Zarah (Sheila Vand) , after having an intense argument with her over Zarah choosing to genetically alter their unborn child.

'Snowpiercer' airs Mondays at 9 pm ET on TNT.
