Spoilers for 'Snowpiercer' Season 3 Episode 2 'The Last to Go'

More layers are added to the narrative in what comes as the second episode of Season 3 of 'Snowpiercer.' The previous episode, titled 'The Tortoise and the Hare,' ended rather ominously with Mr. Wilford cracking down on Resistance members and Layton having visions of a tree in a barren land. The third season of the post-apocalyptic dystopian drama by TNT will see Layton scour the icy remains of Earth looking for an ideal spot to restart civilization and will also see Mr. Wilford attempt to exterminate traitors to his cause and eradicate the Resistance once and for all.

Titled 'The Last to Go,' the episode starts with Asha, the survivor from the workstation, coming to her senses. Layton and the crew help her get familiar with the ways of their train. She slowly opens up to Layton and we get a short but effective backstory that explains how Asha ended up at the workstation. It also explains how she lost her close ones to radiation poisoning as the reactor of the workstation cooled down. The crew have a back and forth over ways to get to a location that could be New Eden, with food shortage looming over the pirate train. The new destination that the crew has in mind also seems to mirror the visions that Layton had in the previous episode.

Back on the Snowpiercer, we see Mr. Wilford test an electromagnetic device. The test is successful and the ripples of the pulse it emits make Resistance members aware of its existence. Ruth, who is still in hiding in First Class, manages to make contact with Javi and tries to extract information about the device. Without revealing much, a confused Javi blurts that it is indeed a weapon meant to take out Layton and the pirate train. Parallelly, Lilah and Osweiller of the Nightcar get engaged and break the news to Mr. Wilford. Wilford, seeing it as an opportunity to boost the morale of the train, takes responsibility for the ceremony and turns it into the Loyal Wedding.

As the wedding takes place, Resistance members break into the carriage holding the electromagnetic device. Kevin, however, notices something odd about Javi's movements and finds out that he has been to the First Class. Ruth, after being tipped off about an incoming recon team led by Kevin, decides to turn herself in and leaves the Resistance members to deal with the device. They figure out that it emits an EMP that kills all electrical activity and try to disarm it but end up activating the device. Fortunately, they toss it out of the train before it goes off. In the meantime, Ruth is taken in and brought in front of Mr. Wilford who coldly declares that her arm will be taken away at the port. The EMP is emitted after the conversation and the activity shows up on the pirate train's radar, revealing the Snowpiercer's location to Layton, who plans to pay Mr. Wilford a visit.

Episode 2 of 'Snowpiercer' Season 3 ends with Layton intervening moments before Ruth's arm is taken and a surprised Mr. Wilford ordering his men to the battle stations.

'Snowpiercer' airs Mondays at 9 pm ET on TNT
