LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The sudden death of Tina Turner at the age of 83 has left her fans in shock. The “Queen of Rock 'n' Roll” reportedly breathed her last on Wednesday, May 24. Turner's death came after she suffered a long illness. Many A-listers, including Beyoncé, paid heart-moving tributes to the legend. But Tina Turner’s fans are angry with the ‘Crazy in Love’ singer and her husband Jay-Z because of their lyrics in ‘Drunk In Love’.

Jay-Z rapped for the 2013 song and the lyrics state, “I'm Ike, Turner, turn up / Baby no I don't play / Now eat the cake, Anna Mae / I said eat the cake, Anna Mae.” The lines referred to a sad incident from the late singer’s life when she was with her ex Ike Turner, who once apparently shoved a cake in her mouth and yelled, “Eat the cake, Anna Mae!” At the time, Tina was known as Anna Mae.

‘Why did she allow that?’

An angry fan tweeted, “Knowing that Tina Turner was Beyoncé’s blueprint and one of her biggest influences makes that “Eat The Cake Anna Mae” line in Drunk In Love even more jarring.” Another fan asked, “I love Beyoncé down but that Tina Turner line in drunk in love is weird. Why did she allow that ???”

The third one wrote, “After knowing how her entire performance style was influenced by Tina Turner that Drunk In Love line that her friend used made it EXTRA disappointing. Respect our legends. Take them out of your stupid raps!” The fourth one remarked, “That “Eat the cake, Anna Mae” line in Drunk in Love by Jay-Z was so disrespectful and horrific looking back. Smfh. RIP Tina Turner.”

““Drunk In Love,” by @Beyonce & #JayZ was a tragic example of the incomparable #TinaTurner being mocked & her abuse being dismissed. While Jay Z sang the lyrics mocking Tina, #Beyonce obviously cosigned Tina's horrific abuse being made a mockery of & put that song on her album…” a user shared. Another user added, “I will never forget when Jay Z made fun of Tina’s abuse in Drunk in Love.”

‘Tina, we will miss you dearly’

Turner’s death was announced by her representatives on Twitter. The statement said, “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner. With her music and boundless passion for life, she enchanted fans worldwide and inspired future stars. We say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us her greatest work; her music. Tina, we will miss you dearly.”

A tribute message below the statement read, “My thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and fans. RIP Tina Turner🌹😢.” Another message said, I saw her live with Ike so so long ago and have adored her and her music above all else. This is a very sad day😕.” “Tina Turner! You blessed our lives with your voice and music! Now you are blessing the heavens, too! Thank you 🙏,” a tweet added.
