Timothée Chalamet kissing Selena Gomez in viral video after split from Lily-Rose Depp sends fans into a frenzy
After news broke of Timothée Chalamet and Lily-Rose Depp's splitting up earlier this week, a clip of the actor kissing Selena Gomez went viral on TikTok, sparking rumors that the pair might be hooking up.
In the clip it appeared that Chalamet and Gomez were locking lips when the paparazzi caught them in the act. Unfortunately, this wasn’t a real kiss. It was part of a kissing scene for the 2019 movie 'A Rainy Day in New York,' in which both of them starred.
It seems as if the intimate scenes from the movie were cleverly spliced together to make it seem like the two of them have started dating.
Fans who discovered the truth began reacting in different ways. While some were outraged that they had been fooled by a fake online video, others took it in their stride and found humor in it.
“I thought Timothee Chalamet and Selena Gomez were dating… but apparently all the pics of them kissing are just from a movie they did together lol,” one fan joked, while a second one ranted, "I swear I’m so done with people@on tik tok thinking that timothee and Selena are dating like girlies IT WAS FOR A MOVIE!!!!! We reported on Saturday, April 25, that a profile of the actor in British Vogue’s May 2020 issue referred the 'Call Me By Your Name' star as single. It was first reported that Chalamet was dating Depp, 20 in October 2018, after the pair were spotted kissing in New York City. The couple, who had completed shooting for their Netflix drama, 'The King,' just a couple of months earlier, was spotted making out and kissing in the Big Apple.
Before Lily, Chalamet was known to have dated Madonna's daughter Lourdes Leonall back in 2013.
Chalamet has previously admitted that he was not comfortable with dating and found it to be difficult. “Date is very much a scary word because then that context has been established. You can always see people on early date behavior,” he told W Magazine in an interview in 2018.
Gomez, on the other hand, is also single, having had a public breakup from her former boyfriends, Justin Bieber and The Weeknd, over the past few years. Last year, fans speculating that her number one 2019 hit “Lose You To Love Me” was about her split with Bieber.
