Timothee Chalamet and Lily-Rose Depp split after dating for more than a year
Timothée Chalamet and Lily-Rose Depp have split after dating for more than a year, reports claim. The news was confirmed by US Weekly on Saturday, April 25.
A profile of the the actor in British Vogue’s May 2020 issue referred the 'Call Me By Your Name' star, 24, as single.
It was first reported that Chalamet was dating Depp, 20 in October 2018, after the pair were spotted kissing in New York City. The couple, who had completed shooting for Netflix drama 'The King' just a couple of months earlier, was spotted making out and kissing in the Big Apple.
They were spotted on a date while packing enough PDA for everyone to witness.
"They were walking down the street and he stopped her and pulled her close," a witness told US weekly. "They started making out for a while, for over a minute."
According to the report, a certain Chalamet fan account on Instagram even has a picture of the couple walking around downtown, arm in arm. "They were pretty playful and flirty with each other,” an onlooker told US Weekly at the time. The onlooker dded that both of them looked like “a new young couple in love.”
A couple of months later, another witness spotted the duo enjoying a “low-key” date night in New York. “They were in good spirits and lovely to all the staff that interacted with them. Timothée paid for the meal,” the eyewitness said in December 2018. In the same month, they went away for a holiday together in Paris.
The daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis was also seen stepping out with Chalamet in NYC a few weeks later. Proving that their love had not faded, the couple was photographed by the paparazzi locking lips on a boat in Italy in September 2019.
Although the actor showed up at the Golden Globes 2019 with his mom, Nicole Flender, as his date, he did briefly reference his romance with Lily-Rose. When he was asked on the red carpet by Access Hollywood if he would be meeting up with his girlfriend after the event, he replied, “I’m here with mom." On the reporter's comment, “Lily makes you speechless,” the Academy Award nominee laughed and replied, “Yeah.”
Both Lily and Chamalet also share a mutual love for Armie Hammer, after Chalamet scored his first Oscar nomination opposite him last year in 'Call Me By Your Name', while Lily's dad starred opposite him in 'The Lone Ranger'.
Before Lily, Chalamet was known to have dated Madonna's daughter Lourdes Leonall back in 2013. Lily, on the other hand, split from British model Ash Stymest in 2016, having dated each other for two years.
Chalamet has previously admitted that he was not comfortable with dating and found it to be difficult. “Date is very much a scary word because then that context has been established. You can always see people on early date behavior,” he told W Magazine in an interview in 2018.
