‘This Is Us’ Season 5 Episode 5: Are Kevin and Madison meant to be together or will they break up soon?

The new season of ‘This Is Us’ brought the lucky couple, Kevin and Madison Simons, together. Is it only to drive them apart? 

A little love can go a long way and glue two souls together for life... But will Kevin Pearson (Justin Hartley) ever be sure of the "special someone" he wants to spend the rest of his life with? The new season of ‘This Is Us’ brought the lucky couple, Kevin and Madison Simons (Caitlin Thompson), together. Is it only to drive them apart? 

In Episode 3 ‘Changes’, the pair first started opening up about their inner turmoil. Madison told Kevin, "​I have been struggling with eating disorders for as long as I can remember. I keep the babies' photo on the fridge so I remind myself to eat... Eat to keep our babies alive." Apologetic for ignoring her, Kevin then shed light on his fears. "Madison I am an alcoholic and a workout addict with daddy issues." They both have issues that they don't want to pass on to their kids.

Spilling the beans, they shared intimate fears, old secrets and express who they really are. After a heart-to-heart conversation, Kevin said they need to be open and honest with each other if they want to be good parents and also stressed how he wants to do better. Towards the end of the episode, the couple is happy together but could these problems resurface? 

"These two broken souls finally opening out, talking about their traumas and trying to really know each other was everything! I need more conversations like this one, I need Kevin and Madison to become friends and lovers and to help each other heal," one fan hoped. 

Madison was missing from the fourth episode ‘Honestly’, but she will play a major part in the next episode — which will only be back after a two-month break — on January 5, 2020. In a new 16-second teaser for Episode 5, Kevin and Madison don't seem to be on the best terms. "You made a commitment to me and these kids," she tells Kevin. "All in, you said." Kevin remarks, "I know what I said." 

Is it just an argument after Kevin struck the movie deal for the legal thriller ‘Glass Eye’? Maybe, Madison is wondering if he will be able to devote time to her and his kids. Or is it a call for break-up? Fans are worried and can't stop wondering if the road of their relationship has come to a dead end. "Please don't break up Madison and Kevin," one fan begged and another said, "Uh-oh, Kevin and Madison fighting already? That was fast given this will only be episode 5."

Many other fans have a lot of hope from their love story. "I feel like I’m probably one of the few, but I’m obsessed with Kevin and Madison. I think they could really help one another, praying it works out for those two (yes I know it’s a tv show)," one posted and another wrote, "Kevin and Madison sitting in a dusty garage nervously saying everything wrong with themselves to the other, was forever one of the most precious and real moments on #ThisIsUs. I love this show. I love this show for revealing "perfect people" have a lot more going on. Always."

A third went on to highlight a deeper aspect. "Yes! I wonder if This Is Us Writers play around w/ the narrative that women *don’t* have to stay. I’d love to see that on-screen. I know they’ve already written it, so I’ll wait with bated breath to see what happens to Madison. And to see what happens to Kevin!" Well, we'll only find out what happens with the pair once the show comes back after the hiatus. 

The two-hour episode of ‘This Is Us’ premiered on Tuesday, October 27, at 9 pm ET on NBC. Following that, one-hour episodes aired weekly. Now, the rest of the episodes starting from Episode 5 will be back in January 2021.
