‘The Wendy Williams Show’ host says Beyoncé will beat Taylor Swift and Elton John at Golden Globes

On Monday’s episode of ‘The Wendy Williams  Show’, the daytime talk show host had some opinions on the just-announced Golden Globe nominations. Williams, who had only a couple of weeks ago referred to Taylor Swift bagging “Artist of the Decade” at the American Music Awards and said people’s tastes had “cheapened through the years in a lot of things”, once again decided to throw a little shade at the 29-year-old musician.

She said, “Taylor Swift versus Beyonce versus Elton John for the best original song,” and paused, and added, “I have got no comment. I am not a big award show fan. I think Beyonce will win again or something.”

Williams, on November 26, had also said about Swift’s AMA wins, “Taylor Swift made history, which is like unbelievable to me. She won six awards, now she has a total of 29 awards. That sounds unbelievable, but what sounds unforgivable, she's got more awards than Michael Jackson!”

Swift was nominated for 'Beautiful Ghosts' from ‘Cats’, whereas Beyonce was nominated for 'Spirit' from ‘The Lion King’. Elton John, on the other hand, received the nomination in the 77th Golden Globe Awards for "Never Too Late" from ‘The Lion King’.

According to Billboard, it is the third nomination in the category for both Beyoncé and Swift; the fifth for John. Williams also talked about Eddie Murphy’s new Netflix movie ‘Dolemite is My Name’ being nominated for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy.

She said she had the original ‘Dolemite’ poster at her home, along with that of ‘Scarface’: “In my apartment, I’ve got a gigantic poster of ‘Dolemite’. The original one. Yeah, that’s how I roll… You’d be surprised how I really gets (sic) down!”

‘The Wendy Williams Show’ airs every weekday at 11 a.m. PT. The Golden Globe award ceremony will take place on January 5, 2020, at the Beverly Hilton and will be hosted by Ricky Gervais.
