'The Walking Dead' Season 10 Episode 13 Preview: Will Michonne survive 'What We Become' or is her story over?

While her survival would allow Danai Gurira to return to the 'TWD' universe for a spin-off show or film, the odds do seem to be stacked against her

Danai Gurira's final episode as Michonne on AMC's 'The Walking Dead' is almost here. Season 10 Episode 13 'What We Become' is expected to be Gurira's last episode on the show and the question on everyone's mind is will she be killed or will Michonne get a last-minute rescue like Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln).

If it is the latter, that could mean that she will return to the 'TWD' universe for a spin-off show or film but the odds do seem to be stacked against her. In fact, chances are Michonne will be killed off in Episode 13 itself.

Based on preview images released for the episode, we know that Michonne will be captured and made a prisoner by some unknown enemies in the episode. An extended trailer for the episode had also revealed that Virgil (Kevin Carroll) will be leading Michonne into a trap in the episode, in the hopes that she can bring down the people who may have killed his family.

Whether by death or spinoff, Michonne won't be around on the show for much longer and while that's pretty saddening for the fans, Gurira did get a pretty epic farewell party, courtesy of the rest of the cast. In a February 25 interview with EW, Gurira spoke about how fellow cast member Norman Reedus put together a fireworks display on her last day of filming, which coincidentally fell on July 4.

"They did a lot of really cool things for me which I didn't expect," she said. "Norman (Reedus) organized this big fireworks display, which was really beautiful, and there was this really cool cake that was basically Michonne's sword… There was, of course, a lot of pain and saying goodbye and teariness, but it was such a free flow of love and that’s what sticks with me the most."

Here's the synopsis for the upcoming episode: "Michonne takes Virgil back to his mysterious island to reunite with his family; in exchange, Virgil promises weapons that could change the tide of the Whisperer War."

The cast for 'The Walking Dead' Season 10 includes Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon, Danai Gurira as Michonne, Melissa McBride as Carol Peletier, Christian Serratos as Rosita Espinosa, Josh McDermitt as Eugene Porter, along with Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, Khary Payton, Ryan Hurst, Samantha Morton, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Callan McAuliffe, Eleanor Matsuura, Cooper Andrews, Nadia Hilker, Cailey Fleming, Cassady McClincy, Lauren Ridloff, Thora Birch and Dan Fogler.

New episodes of 'The Walking Dead' Season 10 air every Sunday at 9 pm ET on AMC.
