'The Voice' Season 18: Todd Michaels, Nelson Cade III, Michael Williams and Samantha Howell hit the 4-way knockout
For the last performance or might we say performances, it was the spectacle everyone was waiting to witness - the four-way knockout round between the contestants that each coach saved. Rocker Todd Michael from coach Blake Shelton's team, Nelson Cade III from team John Legend, Michael Williams from coach Nick Jonas's team and Samantha Howell from Team Kelly Clarkson were up against each other.
Nelson was up for rehearsals first with coach John and mega coach James Taylor. He had picked the song 'Best Part' by Daniel Caeser. After listening to him sing, James thought that Nelson would need to go that extra mile if he wanted to stand out. "Find those ways to break it open," he said while John also agreed that Nelson would have to bring something new to the table to get that win.
Todd chose to perform 'Somebody to Love' by One Republic and he managed to impress James with his vocals. The mega coach also tipped his hat to Samantha after listening to her sing Willie Nelson's 'Always On My Mind' during the rehearsals. Michael from team Nick also managed to impress James with his rendition of 'You're the reason' by Calum Scott.
It was now time for all the performers to fight for their final chance to make it to the live performances. Only one among them could move forward to the live rounds and their fate lies with America who will determine who among them moves forward in the competition. The polls are open online and on 'The Voice' mobile application till Tuesday, April 21, 2020, 7 am ET, announced host Carson Daly before the performers took to stage.
Todd came through with his performance with his clear voice. He glided through his performance with high notes and equally shrill falsettos, effortlessly. Nelson was next to perform and he managed to deliver beautifully along with playing the keyboard. Michael too delivered an emotionally charged performance and last was Samantha with another out worldly performance.
The performances were followed by each coach telling the audiences why their mentees deserve to advance further in the competition and why they deserve their votes.
'The Voice' airs Monday nights on NBC.
