'The Voice' season 17 Knockouts: Fans claim John Legend made a mistake by sending Preston Howell home and saving Marybeth

That's it, folks! With Tuesday night's episode of 'The Voice' season 17, the Knockouts have officially come to an end, and starting next week the series will head to the Top 20 Live Playoffs. But before we get excited about next week's live shows, fans are upset again with John Legend, after he decided to eliminate Preston Howell during Tuesday's Knockouts.

Performing his rendition of Frank Sinatra's 'The Way You Look Tonight', 15-year-old Preston battled against Marybeth Byrd who sang her version of Adele's 'All I Ask'. Preston's vocals were strong and consistent while his stage presence was also impeccable, not to forget his wink at Gwen Stefani. John Legend called it his best performance this season.

While Kelly Clarkson shared that she would have liked to see him take a Justin Bieber song and perform it in his style, Blake Shelton disagreed saying that Preston has already proved he can flip a song when he performed 'Dream a Little Dream of Me' by the Mamas & Papas.

Marybeth stepped on stage and stunned everyone with her vocals. Though it faltered a little, she didn't let that affect her performance and ended up bringing out all the emotions needed for that song. Kelly raved about Marybeth taking one of the toughest songs by Adele. Though each coach gave their review on their Knockout battle, the decision was ultimately left to John.

It was definitely a hard decision to make, and at the end of the day, he chose Marybeth as the winner. While fans expected Blake to use his steal on Preston, sadly he didn't. Preston was sent home, and Marybeth advanced to the Live Playoffs.

Taking to Twitter post their performance, fans couldn't help but share their disappointment with John eliminating Preston. They claim this is the second mistake he made after he chose to eliminate Zoe Upkins on Monday night.

"What a shame that Preston was eliminated. He was my favorite. #TheVoice," wrote a fan. Adding to that another said, "I’m so sad Preston didn’t make it, he was my favorite  #thevoice #MM330,"

"Am I the only one OUTRAGED that Preston was not picked or stolen on #TheVoice tonight?!?! You are INCREDIBLE @PrestonCHowell," shared a fan. While another added, "Real nice. You kick Lev off ( the best singer ever on this show)and keep Preston and then kick Preston off. You need to get your ears checked."

"John clearly wasn’t paying attention to either performance. Wrong choice by a mile," wrote a fan. "Wrong choice! She’s good but the same as all the other girls. We need something different with music, not all the same. Big mistake!" shared another fan.

'The Voice' season 17 airs every Monday and Tuesday night only on NBC. Check your local listings for more information.
