UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: As Season 25 of 'The Voice' neared its conclusion with Top 9 results broadcast on Tuesday, May 14, four contestants were informed that they had been eliminated.

Madison Curbelo's elimination, in particular, stirred disappointment among viewers, leading to discussions of boycotting not only the broadcast but potentially the entire season.

Madison from Team Dan + Shay delivered a stunning performance of Michael Jackson's smash hit 'Man in the Mirror' to secure her spot in the finals through the Instant Save. Madison graced the stage in a lilac dress and white platform boots, channeling MJ.

Madison's rendition of MJ's song received widespread acclaim from fans, who noted its passionate delivery. While acknowledging the heightened intensity of singing for her spot in the competition, fans were taken aback by Madison's exceptional performance.

Fans were convinced that Tae Lewis would win the Instant Save until Madison came on and knocked it out of the park. They didn't expect her to get in! So it stung much more when they realized she wouldn't be making it to the finals. 

On X, one fan wrote, "Madison’s cover of the classic Michael Jackson song “Man In the Mirror” was absolutely flawless." Even after her elimination, one fan commented, "I still think Madison should win, though."

One fan expressed their frustration by threatening to boycott the finale, stating, "Literally not watching #TheVoice Finale bc Serenity, Maddi, and Madison deserve to be there."Another fan echoed similar sentiments, "I'm done watcing show this season. Bryan over Madison and Maddi are just crime. There's no one I care for win in the finale."

One user also wrote, "Maddi jane and madison not in the finale. I’m over it." Another angry fan wrote, "America got it wrong again!! How in the hell did Madison not make it?? 3 guys make it. The girls got screwed!!!"

Who is Madison Curbelo in 'The Voice' Season 25?

Madison's audition for Season 20 of 'The Voice' was a pivotal moment in her life. At the time, she was a freshman at Berklee College of Music. Disappointed that she didn't receive a chair turn, Madison left the stage alone, particularly saddened as her parents were unable to attend owing to the pandemic's early stages.

When Blake Shelton advised her to gain more experience, Madison took his words to heart. She went on to perform at numerous venues, gaining invaluable experience. Now, with the support of her parents and years of experience under her belt, Madison feels much more confident in her abilities.

She graduated from college and continues to pursue her passion for music, developing her style and sharing it online. She has supported herself financially by working as a theatrical director, giving private piano lessons, and teaching musical theater.

The Season 25 finale of 'The Voice' airs on NBC on Monday, May 20 and Tuesday, May 21, and is available for streaming the next day on Peacock.
