Camila Cabello observed musical similarities between her and Sasha Hurtado and even nudged fellow judge Blake Shelton to get the singer to be on her team

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Camila Cabello has added another singer to her team as the songstress and judge of 'The Voice' Season 22 snags one more contestant away from John Legend. This time it's Dallas native Sasha Hurtado who claims to love pop music even after growing up in a Latin home, echoing with Mariachi Music. The singer auditioned with a powerful performance of the song, 'River' by Bishop Briggs.

According to Sasha, her Mexican culture played a huge role in developing her love for music. Sasha's interest in music grew further and divulged into different genres, such as pop, because of the Mariachi music that her father would play every Sunday. Impressed by her story, Camila observed the musical similarities shared between the two and made a strong case for Sasha to choose Team Camilla over Team Legend. Even to the point of involving Blake Shelton to help pitch for her cause.

Who is Sasha Hurtado?

The 18-year-old Sasha Hurtado calls Dallas, Georgia, her hometown, where she grew up with her family. Sasha's father is Mexican and according to the singer, her Mexican heritage that she inherited from him plays a massive role in her love for music. But being a strong Latina doesn't limit Sasha to only one genre, as she currently focuses more on pop over traditional music. She recalls her inspirations being the band HER and grammy nominated artist Harry Styles.

Hearing her mention the One Direction star, Camila was quick to state that she herself competed in a singing competition in the hopes of one day marrying the singer. Camila also pointed out the similarities between Sasha and her and why resonating with her will make her a good mentor to Sasha.

Even though John praised Sasha heavily over her 'bravado' and the 'love in her voice', Sasha chose Camila as her coach, much to the young coach's delight. Fans also commented on their delight at Camila getting Sasha on Twitter. “10 years between the pics but the love still the same. I’m so, so proud of you!!!! I can’t believe I saw you go from contestant to the coach. I’ll always be here, I love you more than life. @Camila_Cabello,” responded one while another added to it, “I am insanely proud of her and it’s such a beautiful thing to see the full circle moment." One tweeted, “Sasha is so cute!!! She matches Camila's cuteness! #TeamCamila” and a fan wrote, “Congrats Sasha!
