The iconic singing reality show 'The Voice' is back with a bang on NBC. The first episode of Season 22 aired on September 19, 2022, at 8 PM ET. While the competition showcases the finest of singers and performers each year, no season ever passes free of controversy. This time around, it looks like the drama has already started on a high note in Episode 1.

It so happened during the episode, Blake Shelton tried to throw the new coach Camila Cabello off balance and wanted to prove his competitiveness. The singer tried to catch Camila off guard by trying to intimidate her. Blake deliberately tried to make fun of Camila Cabello's ensemble outfit for the first day. She wore a black dress with a puffy-sleeved blouse underneath and accessorized the look with a pink flower at the neck of her top.

After Camila told Blake about her talk with the cameraman about strategies to win the show, Blake sarcastically asked, "Is it your puffy sleeves? Is that a pirate shirt?" Camila took it sportingly and exclaimed, “Arghh!”. However, Blake went a step further and added, "Does your flower squirt? Is it a squirty flower?"

But he soon realized he had crossed a line and said, "Sounds weird when I say it like that. Almost inappropriate, disgusting." Camila felt uncomfortable too and quickly told him, "That’s what I was gonna say. Very inappropriate."

Ardent 'The Voice' fans were furious at coach Blake Shelton and took their beef to Twitter. Many agreed that this was not the way to behave with Camila, even by way of a joke.

"@Camilacabello #TheVoice Hey Camila, Tell Blake he's an idiot. Get him riled up and he won't concentrate on the voice contestants. Take him out the game," said a fan. "Blake and camila’s banter is definitely gonna be a highlight of this season for me #thevoice," shared another. "Did Blake Shelton just ask Camila Cabello if her flower squirted? They both died! #thevoice #BlakeShelton #CamilaCabello," a fan noted. "@Camila_cabello #TheVoice lol Squirty Flower like the Three Stooges! Lol Blake was calling you a clown bringing classic comedy back!" someone claimed. "Blake: “Does your flower squirt? Is that a squirty flower?” Camila: ” ….. ” Yes, Blake, that *was* an inappropriate question…," someone declared.
