LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Camilla Cabello was on a winning streak while recruiting for her team as another contestant chose Team Cabello over the other coaches. Ava Lynn Thuresson, fresh out of high school, was one for whom Camilla fought tooth and nail with fellow judge John Legend. The drama indeed increases between these two as each episode progresses!

Ava auditioned with a cover of the millennial classic, '... Baby One More Time' by Britney Spears, but with a twist. The 18-year-old added a bitter tone to the song to claim as hers. Because of this, John was the first to turn, followed by Camilla. Gwen loved her grungy touch and regretted not turning for her. While the judges seemed to have loved her rendition of the pop queen's hit song, fans, on the other hand, are not so sure if Ava should've gotten any turns at all. Read on to learn more about the performance and the fans' reaction to it.

Who is Ava Lynn Thuresson?

The 18-year-old high school graduate is a singer-songwriter who's been writing her own songs for quite a while. She graduated from the Cathedral Catholic High School in 2022 and has been singing on a stage since eighth grade. She was a member of her high school’s dance team during her junior and senior years. She hails from Coronado, California, and was inspired to pursue music because of her cousin, Dawson. She lost her cousin when he died by drowning, and Ava was 13 years old at the time. The first song she ever wrote was about Dawson.

Ava auditioned on the show with a grungy and angsty version of ‘... Baby One More’ time which earned her chair turns from John and Camilla both. John was especially impressed by her rendition and called her a rockstar with a powerful voice. Camilla, on the other hand, praised her version because of its emphasis on the song's lyrics. She loved how she made a ‘poppy’ song angsty. John pitched that with him she can nurture the self-assurance she showcases with Team Legend. At the same time, Camilla claimed that her experience being a contestant in another singing competition is of much more value and she can teach her how to ace live shows. With that, Camilla managed to win Ava Lyn over to her team.

But while the judges seemed to rave at her performance and voice, fans disagree. Many pointed out that she ruined the song and wasn’t that great, to begin with, to get even two chair turns. Fans took to the YouTube comment section with Ava Lyn’s audition and one stated, “Not the best song choice. Obviously, she is singing it much better than Britney but that's not exactly a challenge. You can hear the potential in her voice. Hopefully, in the next round, they'll have her sing songs that showcase her talent more.” Another added, “I wouldn't have turned. She sounded off key and forced Camila looks so over it lmaooo” A fan hated it so much that he left a comment with, “Pass. I hate it when contestants make the entire song a bunch of runs. You can do runs, we get it” As another critiqued the song choice with, “She's talented but horrible song choice.” One fan said, “The sound. Needs to be worked on. Piss poor.” To which one added, “All these auditions are lame, no real outstanding talent. They all sound like covers. Very disappointed” And one was just not impressed, saying, “meh..she's not going far”
