MSNBC host Joy Reid is apparently facing the prospect of losing her show on the network this spring following a round of reshuffling, sparking a wave of reactions on social media.

MEAWW previously reported how Reid was labeled a 'racist' after comparing Kyle Rittenhouse's 'White male tears' to Brett Kavanaugh's. We also reported how the anchor sparked outrage after saying 'people on the right' would trade their tax cuts to openly use racial slurs. The 53-year-old was also recently trolled for saying billionaire Elon Musk had culturally appropriated his 'Karen' insult against Democrat Sen Elizabeth Warren.

A tweet by former Mediaite managing editor Jon Nicosia cited a source at Comcast — of which NBCUniversal is a subsidiary — claiming that 'The ReidOut' will reportedly be canceled in the spring. “Source @ Comcast: ‘Joy Reid will lose her 7p show in the next round of reshuffling at MSNBC.’ – ‘She does not have a show come mid Spring’ – The ‘decision has been made, the only thing left is messaging on the move, which will be ratings,'” Nicosia tweeted Thursday, January 6.

Reid was allegedly viewed as "unmanageable" by many, per the tweet. “As was the case with Chris Cuomo at CNN, Reid has allies at Comcast, however, she is now viewed as ‘unmanageable’ by many. Also, similar to Cuomo, it appears those allies have found out she has been ‘less than truthful about past incidents,'” Nicosia wrote on Twitter. "Also, like Cuomo at CNN. Watch for MSNBC/Comcast to defend her right until the announcement," he added.

Reid's rival, Fox News host Greg Gutfeld, mocked the MSNBC anchor in his own style. “Shit…there goes a third of my material. first Chris Cuomo, now Joy Reid….if I lose Don Lemon, I may have to report on actual stories!!” he tweeted.

However, CNN star Brian Stelter defended Reid after quoting The Daily Beast’s Justin Baragona, who warned against "running wild" with a story based on a single tweet.

Nonetheless, critics of Reid had a field day on social media, noting the apparent irony of the anti-Trump newscaster allegedly being 'fired' on January 6. "If Comcast is firing Joy Reid, then the only option is for Biden to hire her as White House Press Secretary Psaki said she was leaving after a year It's time for Equity, Joe Biden!" journalist Jack Posobiec tweeted.

"News breaking that Joy Reid is being fired by MSNBC on January 6th would actually make this a date worth memorializing," commentator Clay Travis added. "All 6 of Joy Reid's viewers are hurting tonight... thoughts and prayers," columnist Tim Young cracked.

"It was just reported that Joy Reid is losing her 7 pm show on MSNBC. Well, this was a nice belated Christmas present," one Twitter user wrote. "Racist Joy Reid losing her show on January 6 is priceless! Who Agrees?" another added. "Professional race-baiter Joy Reid getting fired gives me butterflies," another chimed in.

Reid has been accused by her critics of spewing left-wing rhetoric on her show 'TheReidOut', which debuted in July 2020, replacing 'Hardball with Chris Matthews' on its timeslot. Reid joined MSNBC in 2011 and her eponymous show initially boasted impressive ratings. However, her ratings steadily plummeted over time, starting the year with an average of 2,592,000 viewers per month and dropping to 1,129,000 by November. Meanwhile, the network's weekday primetime viewership dropped by 25 percent in 2021.
