Reid accused Musk of 'misappropriating black vernacular for misogynistic purposes' by using the insult 'Karen'

A feud between Tesla CEO and SpaceX founder Elon Musk and MSNBC's Joy Reid took a turn for the worse this week after Reid accused him of 'misappropriating black vernacular for misogynistic purposes' by using the insult 'Karen' and Musk firing back by calling Reid a lobbyist for Elizabeth Warren. It all began when 50-year-old Musk was named by Time magazine as the person of the year. This news prompted Senator Elizabeth Warren, who has been campaigning for higher taxes for the wealthiest for a long time, to say that Musk did not deserve it because he had not paid enough tax.

In a tweet on December 15, Musk referred to Warren as 'Senator Karen', writing, "Please don’t call the manager on me, Senator Karen," and also "And if you opened your eyes for 2 seconds, you would realize I will pay more taxes than any American in history this year." The same day, Warren appeared on Joy Reid's MSNBC show, where her attacks on Musk continued. Reid defended Warren saying Musk misused the insult 'Karen', which is used to refer to entitled and culturally insensitive White women.

"Elon wasn't happy, so he did what he always did, and stomped his little feet and insulted Senator Warren," Joy Reid said. "Calling her an 'angry mom' and referring to her as Senator Karen. So for so many reasons - being a freeloader, and a selfish and disrespectful one, and for misappropriating black vernacular for misogynistic purposes - Elon Musk is the absolute worst."

Musk lost no time in responding to Reid's accusations and tweeted "(Lack of) Joy Reid is a lobbyist for Sen Karen."

Joy Reid's comments did not go down well with social media users, who called her 'racist' and 'dumb'. "Racist Joy Reid accused Elon Musk of cultural appropriation for calling Elizabeth Warren "Senator Karen." That's hilarious being it comes from the biggest black Karen on earth," one user wrote on Twitter. "Just barring Joy Reid from TV & Social Media would go a long way in solving racism! Who Agrees?" wrote another.

While one user shared the clip and wrote, "If wondering why Joy Reid is the lowest-rated host on MSNBC from 4pm to midnight, this is Exhibit A (of hundreds of exhibits) as to why...", another said, "Joy Reid is racist for trying to bring down another African American, Elon Musk." "Fun Fact: Firing Joy Reid would help solve America’s racism problem," one user wrote. "Joy Reid Reaches New Levels Of INSANITY: Elon Musk Is Racist For Using The Word "Karen"," wrote another.

"The only thing dumber than Joy Reid are the people who still listen to her," one user wrote. "Joy Reid makes me sick! Who feels the same?" wrote another. "Joy Reid is a real Karen! SO DUMB! Her soul are black & she has nothing in common w/ normal ppl. She's an elitist & enemy of America," wrote one social media user slamming Reid.
