'The Purge' season 2 episode 6 spoilers tease Esme digging into Olivia's death despite being tracked by NFFA

Since Drew's purging, Esme has been able to dig into what the now-deceased psychologist was protecting, the same thing that got her purged in the first place.

Given Esme's current predicament at work, with her boss secretly overlooking her every move through cameras and microphones tapped on to her gadgets, one would think the NFFA security surveillance official will be a little more careful. This goes without saying, especially now that Esme knows full well that her conversations are being tapped, as we found out at the end of the previous and fifth episode, 'House of Mirrors'. But Esme being Esme, she is a whole other level of badass with a latent heart of gold who needs to find out why Drew Adams was purged; and even her long withstanding loyalty to the NFFA can't deter that.

In a newly released promotional teaser for the upcoming sixth episode titled 'Happy Holidays', we get to see what 'on the run' stuff Esme is indulging in as teased in the official synopsis for the episode. Esme is seen walking around the block of Olivia Hughes' apartment, whom Esme found dead and decaying in her bathtub. Esme clicks photographs of the building and spots security cameras to sneak out footage from. She doesn't believe Olivia's death was a suicide as the NFFA tried staging, and as her slow evolution into a non-believer in the NFFA begins, we finally get to see the full length of the risks she undertakes to find out the truth behind Drew getting purged.

Ever since Drew's purging, Esme has been able to dig into what the now-deceased psychologist so close to her, was protecting - the same thing that got her purged in the first place. With Drew's student - Darren's help, Esme is able to find out that Drew was studying a list of subjects in whom violence was a predominant thought. The findings of Drew's study suggested that instead of curbing violence, the idea of 'release through purging' only made people more and more violent.

Upon looking up all of Drew's subjects, Esme found every single one of their records listing them as deceased, except Olivia. Sadly, when Esme tried reaching out to Olivia, all she was met with was Olivia's bloodied dead body decaying in the bathtub of her home. Esme's keenness in the case of Drew Adams' purging had caught her boss's attention right from the start, and with her being the one to find Olivia's dead body, the NFFA's doubts over Esme's intent were confirmed.

It is only at the end of last week's episode that Esme learns she is being watched and overheard at all times, but instead of simmering down, the coming episode will see her sneaking up on random truck drivers arriving at Olivia's builder, presumably to deliver packages. At the end of her little inspection, Esme calls up Darren and informs him she "has a lead", which spurs him to ask her to meet in person. There has been a lot of speculation over how Darren's innocent involvement might end up making him the NFFA's imminent target, but the rate at which Esme is putting her life on the line, it doesn't seem all that unfathomable that the NFFA will snipe her out too if need be.

'The Purge' season 2 airs on Tuesdays at 9 pm only on USA Network.
