HBO's 'The Outsider': Fans of Stephen King's famous novel give the crime thriller the thumbs-up
'The Outsider', a crime-thriller by HBO has premiered two of its 10-episode miniseries based on Stephen King's novel of the same name.
The series revolves around Terry Maitland, a little league coach who gets arrested in front of his students under the charges of rape, mutilation, and murder of an 11-year-old boy.
With its two-episode release, fans seemed to have enjoyed the eerie nature of the show as it premiered this Monday.
"Whether it's in real life or not, when a kid sits up in the middle of the night and says there's a bad man outside their window (or in their room), you take it seriously #TheOutsider #TheOutsiderHBO" read one of the tweets.
"#TheOutsider on HBO is so incredibly outrageously good. My stomach was in my chest and my heart was in my throat the whole first episode," another fan tweeted.
Fans of the book are expected to be happy, as they praise the portrayal of King's famous novel was worth the watch. The show seemed to have started with solid reviews from fans "If you have time you should check out #TheOutsider. The show has HBO Top 3 potential" tweeted one of the show's enthusiasts.
The episodes proudly presented enough gore to pull fans in as the show seemingly is doing Kings' novel justice. "The first 2 episodes of The Outsider were incredibly ballsy, super excited to see where this goes #TheOutsider," said another fan.
As fans look forward to the third episode airing next Monday, we wonder how much of the plot behind to thicken — not to mention, too much happened in the two episodes.
"I want to gorge #TheOutsider on #HBO. It’s torture waiting a week! @StephenKing" tweeted a fan, and we share the same sentiment.
Fans also congratulated Bateman on his directional credits with one fan tweeting, "Whoa! #TheOutsider #TheOutsiderHBO is an amazing, creepy, superb @StephenKing adaptation. Those 2 first episodes were near perfection. Totally hooked! Kudos to @batemanjason's direction... It feels so assured and controlled, and freakin' scary... And #BenMendelsohn... Damn!"
