On January 11, it was announced that 2022 Oscars will have a host for the first time in four years. Following the 2021 Oscar ceremony, in which there was no set host amid the Covid-19 restrictions and guidelines, it has now been confirmed that this year's Oscars will see a host. Oscars ceremony had gone hostless for the past few years, after a controversy over old homophobic tweets and jokes of 2019 host Kevin Hart resurfaced.

And now, Craig Erwich, president of Hulu Originals & ABC entertainment, has reportedly announced that Spider-man star Tom Holland had been approached to host the 2022 Oscars. However, Holland is yet to respond to the same. The actor had once expressed his interest in hosting the fancy award ceremony. "If they ask me to, I would, and it would be very fun," he said in December 2021.

Talking about the Oscar show, the 94th Academy Awards is all set for airing on March 27 on ABC. Four years back in 2018, Jimmy Kimmel was the last person who fronted the show as the main host. In years 2019, 2020, and 2021, the Oscars were handed out by a few famous celebrity faces. According to the statement released by ABC, the 2022 Oscars ceremony will be held again at Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. Further, the nominations for the awards will be announced on February 8, 2022. Earlier it was announced that Glenn Weiss would be directing the Oscars telecast for the seventh consecutive time.

As soon as rumors of Holland hosting the show surfaced online, people started sharing their opinions and views. One of the Twitter users stated, "@TomHolland1996 I want you to remember that you hosting the Oscar's will be an insult to Kevin Hart. Remember what he stood for." Another one commented,"Love Tom Holland. But can we stop with this notion that being a charming individual means you will be a great host? Hosting is a different beast. Knowing how to work an audience is key: Billy, Whoopi, Hugh, Ellen. Experienced live entertainers with an audience. #Oscars."

Another user wrote, "If Tom Holland hosting the Oscars will help more people watch the show, then fine. Maybe they'll discover a movie they haven't heard of as a result. No reason to be an elitist snob about these things, the show being a snooze doesn't help anyone."
